Previously we had shown a relationship between an increasing number of factors and declining ecosystem functioning using global surveys. This study finds that pattern also at a country-scale (China), and in deeper soil, not just surface soil.

Among other things, we find that there is an increase in antibiotic resistance genes when a large number of factors (eight in our case) acts on soil, compared to the 10 different single factors. In this case, likely due to the increase of taxa carrying ARGs. For more detail, please see the paper.
