I must admit I was late to this record. It came to my attention via an interview with James Lavelle (Mo’ Wax). The only thing she recorded, then she disappeared. It’s like a middle ground between peak 60s Aretha and Dusty in Memphis, and as good as either. Oh what a career it could have been!

Anyone like cosy crime and record collecting? I’ve just finished book 8 of The Vinyl Detective which is a great little (if implausible) series whereby the protagonist is asked to track down a rare record for a client and murder ensues. Every time😊 There is also an associated paperback related series

Pomegranate Molasses. You’d be surprised how difficult this is to get hold off oop north. I had to drive out of town to the nearest Sainsbury’s (Aldi, Lidl, Asda… even Marks and Sparks a wash out!). I bet they sell shit like this door to door darn sarf! 😊

A decent comeback single, which is nice as I’m taking the boy (younger) to see them in June open.spotify.com/album/2g6yLR...

There was a craze for Ai action figures in the early days of Ai apps (all of last year ago), in this case Funko Pops. So I’m already ahead of the curve here

Today’s day out with the boy

They all look so disappointed at being in The Beatles. Except Ringo, he still looks like Ringo.

Back up to the Motherland today. Lancaster, Morecambe, today I will be in you!

Favourite film. Do I get this?

I’m desperate to play the new Mario Kart World. I’ve never not played one since the original, but £400 on a new console that I know I’m unlikely to buy another game for?!? (unfortunately I’m no longer really a gamer)

I’ve read all the texts on tariff and trade policy, yes.

Just bought this and am really looking forward to reading it

Continuing today’s listens with The Flying Burrito Brothers. Gram Parsons at his finest.

Day off work, been out to buy the boy (younger) a suit for graduation ball. Back home, sat down, chilling to one of the best albums of the eighties.

I once started a trade war with penguins

Made Things, my novella about thieves, wizards and a secret community of homunculi, is getting a UK release (though the incredible cover with real puppets from Red Nose Studio remains, to my delight.)

Spring?

Spiders

Installed two sets of blinds this weekend. A level of DIY usually unheard of from me.

Finally. Is harmony in the world about to be restored.

There’s a generation of people that are unlikely to get on the housing ladder and are also struggling with extortionate rent. What will they do when they retire? How does the average pension pay for rent?

Station to Station...

I hate those guys

Currently getting through this. A Danish Garagerock compilation from ‘65/‘66
