Alien Enemies Act cases update: The Western District of Texas ordered the government shall not remove anyone detained in the District under the AEA without 21 day notice. The notice must include info about the right to seek judicial review and be provided in a language the individual understands!

ICE went into the database where foreign students are tracked and deleted the record of at least 1,700 or more people because they had some minor interaction with law enforcement — speeding tickets, fishing citations, and other minor things. Judges are ruling that was illegal.

They were heading to the airport *during* the hearing with judge Boasberg yesterday. Don't forget the Supreme Court said just two weeks ago that "detainees subject to removal orders under the AEA are entitled to notice and an opportunity to challenge their removal."

BREAKING: SCOTUS orders the government not to remove anyone from the United States under Trump’s Alien Enemies Act proclamation who is a part of the potential class in the Northern District of Texas case until further order of the court. Only Thomas and Alito note their dissent.

The ACLU has asked Judge Boasberg to grant an expedited TRO requiring 30 day notice before removing someone under the AEA. Judge Boasberg has denied this request.

Thread of documents and sources re possibly imminent renditions from Bluebonnet detention facility to El Salvador

Yesterday, a Northern District of Texas judge refused to grant a TRO that would prevent the government from removing people in that district under the Alien Enemies Act. Now the government is moving quickly to ship possibly over 100 people detained at the Bluebonnet Detention Center to El Salvador.

@mattcameron.bsky.social This seems bad. IJs to pretermit asylum cases w/o a hearing. "EOIR adjudicators have a duty to efficiently manage their dockets. It is clear from the almost 4 million pending cases on EOIR’s docket, that has not been happening." www.justice.gov/eoir/media/1...

Acting DHS General Counsel, Joseph Mazzara, files the latest declaration in the Abrego Garcia case. Over an hour past the 5 p.m. deadline, the declaration does not say ANYTHING about Mr. Abrego Garcia's status or what the government has or plans to do to return him to the Untied States.

Going to try to break up my Bluesky feed with pictures from now on. Here is another picture of Archer, the Great Dane puppy. He is hanging out at a mall near Denver.

Today’s court-ordered DOJ status update on their efforts to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia from ES: 1) yes we definitely know where he is 2) he’s a gang member or whatever (probably) 3) okay see you tomorrow

Government declaration says Mr. Abrego Garcia is confined in CECOT in El Salvador. The government claims that he is detained under the sovereign authority of the government of El Salvador. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Meet our 17 week old Great Dane puppy. His name is Archer. He has a ton of energy and requires constant supervision, but he's adorable.

The government doesn't know (or at least their lawyer doesn't) where Mr. Abrego Garcia is and how they'll return him to the United States. The court orders the government to provide daily status updates, also stating that this court doesn't have business hours!

BREAKING: the Supreme Court orders the Trump administration to facilitate the return of Abredo Garcia, the Maryland man mistakenly sent to El Salvador.

TRO GRANTED in the G.F.F. case The Southern District of New York has prohibited the government from removing G.F.F and J.G.O. from the United States and "All noncitizens in U.S. custody in the Southern District of New York who were, are, or will be subject" to removal under the AEA.

Two of the Plaintiffs from the J.G.G. case have now filed a habeas petition in the Southern District of New York!

DHS is sending out this notice to people who came into the United States and were granted parole through the CBPOne app. They're terminating parole and telling them to leave the United States now. This has been reportedly sent to 900,000 people.

This ... This is terrifying.

Unfortunately, the Supreme Court has temporarily stayed the district court's order in the Abrego Garcia case. This does not indicate how the court will decide. The court will hopefully decide the government must return Mr. Abrego Garcia but we won't know til later this week.

The government has filed their appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court. It's likely that Chief Justice Roberts will grant an administrative stay while the court considers whether to vacate the District Court's order to return Mr. Abrego Garcia to the United States.

A federal court judge ordered the government to return Mr. Kilmar Abrego Garcia who was "mistakenly" sent to an El Salvadorian prison by midnight tonight. The government appealed that order to the 4th Circuit and just lost that appeal. The government reportedly is appealing to SCOTUS.

Notification: "Courtlistener Docket Alert..." 🫣 "COURT ORDER filed granting Motion to file Amicus..." Damnit 😑

This is Utah in case anyone’s wondering how pissed off people are. I have never seen anything like this.

The government unlawfully arrested, kept in ICE detention for over 2 months, and nearly sent to El Salvador, a man who has Temporary Protected Status. Without his lawyer's quick actions, Mr. Rojas would likely be in a cell in CECOT now. Instead, he is going home to New York.

ICE disappeared a 52 year old mother today from Westminster, Maryland whose children said she has no criminal record and is legally allowed to be in the country from El Salvador because she has a pending immigration case.

Mr. Kilmar Abrego-Garcia was deported and sent to CECOT in El Salvador BY MISTAKE. He was not removed under the Alien Enemies Act. In 2019, an immigration judge granted withholding of removal. Now the government is refusing to return Mr. Abrego-Garcia to the United States.

The ACLU has obtained the form ICE is using to determine who are Alien Enemies and are being removed from the United States without any legal due process. No evidence required to be sent to a labor prison in El Salvador indefinitely.

Hundreds of international students have just received an email telling them their visas have been revoked. The ‘justification’ is campus activism or social media posts. timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/us/hun...

Can the courts require the return of individuals the Trump administration sent to El Salvador under the Alien Enemies Act? Amanda Tyler explores the jurisdictional questions the courts face and how historical applications of habeas corpus come into play.
