Essential Bus Listening 🚌 This was one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard at the Jim White and Trey Blake gig last night. #EssentialBusListening

Love a proper old boozer. Was in The Pride of Spitalfields at the weekend which is a proper old school East End pub in London. Fantastic!

It’s under the working title of ‘Remember Me To One Who Lives There’ and I am interested in conveying what this overlook means to people and how it has become a place where both love and loss are memorialised. The sea is the cruelest against the rocks on East Cliff and the church and Abbey loom over

I like the maps in the Alan Garner books. They’re def an extra that adds to the stories but aren’t essential. I was entranced by them when I first read the books…and then I found out Alderley Edge was a real place I could go to and see it for real!

This was part of the extremely modest display. Burns me up, it really does. Middle class gatekeeping of the creative world (and *especially* when playing poverty tourist in working class contexts!) is the bane and strangulation of working class expression and narratives.

I don’t think I’ve ever been so angry as I was after watching ‘Tish’. The year before the film I went to a tiny exhibition of her work in Elswick, no fanfare, a few pin boards in a library flung up out of town on the estate. It was incredible work, but the context made me sad and frustrated. Still!
