I just finished reading this after Jon's recommendation and wholeheartedly agree that this book would be ideal for Year 6 teachers. It is an instant favorite and I know I'll enjoy reading it again whenever that time comes.

How do we help children the whole world over, especially those in countries led by egomaniacs and dictators, to read more Charlie Mackesy, Tom Percival, Rachel Bright and these www.booktrust.org.uk/booklists/k/... so they know how to recognise compassion even when it's not modelled by their leaders?

A rare positive and hopeful story.

In just five days, applications for the cohort 2 of East100 will close. But what is it? East100 is, at its simplest, a leadership course. You’ll join a cohort of twenty school leaders from different phases and settings for a year of development activities, in preparation for your first headship.

A call for case studies! I’m co-writing a book focusing on how to create a culture of belonging in primary & secondary schools. We’d love to showcase the amazing DEIB work taking place across the UK. Should you be interested in this opportunity, please get in touch. #DiverseEducators

Hi, to my new followers! 👋 I try my best to share thoughtful things written by others, as well as reflections on my own teaching. For now, I'm taking time to enjoy the hols with my family.

Why do we see teacher expertise as needing knowledge, skill and judgement (even though most people seem to focus on just one of these)? A blog by Professor Rob Coe. Read it here 👉 https://buff.ly/4b4JSqb #EduBlogShare

I’ll update this for everybody to use in schools. Assemblies. Tutor time. The lot! For free! www.trythisteaching.com/2018/05/ramd...

My six year old has just been sleep talking, telling off a child in his imaginary class. When he told me he wanted to be a teacher when he's older, I didn't realise he meant tonight 🤣

Peps is great at sharing what matters in a concise and accessible way.

Anon post: For those who have made the transition, what aspects of headship did being a deputy not fully prepare you for? Are there any specific experiences—big or small—that would help bridge the gap before taking on the role?

Whenever I hear 'Sunshine on Leith' by the Proclaimers, it moves me. Every time. Especially when I'm not expecting to hear it. What's the song or songs that get you every single time?

Lots of great session proposals in so far. Roughly one week to go. If you’re class-based and thinking deeply about primary education, this is your people.

‘My Dog’ the fantastic debut novel written by Olivia Wakeford and published by @harpercollins.bsky.social is out in just over a month. I loved illustrating the cover and interiors. Here is the cover & a couple of the initial sketches & a colour variant that I liked for good measure 🐾

Enjoying stargazing with the 6yo. It's hard to comprehend the size of space and the relative distances involved for anyone... but when you're 6 it's just mind-blowing to see the planets he's learnt about at school right above our village!

6 year old is up early. He says he's desperate to find out what happens next in his story and can't go back to bed. 😅

My nearly-three year old keeps waking up every twenty mins or so, really upset because he can't sleep standing up, like the giraffes in his book. "I want to sleep like a giraffe standing up!"

Really enjoyed doing this session on 'forward facing' primary maths today at #TDaPELondon. Thanks very much to everyone who came. If anyone fancies seeing the slides just drop me a DM! 🧮 🔢 🧑‍💻

I had a fantastic time at the conference. It was lovely to hear primary school teachers talking with such knowledge and passion about how they're working hard to improve outcomes and experiences for the children they teach.

On my way to #TDaPE London. Looking forward to meeting other 'time-poor but enthusiasm-rich teachers' and hearing what they've got to share about school improvement. All in aid of a good cause, too. See you there and thank you for organising @kieran-m-ed.bsky.social @lwilliamsjones.bsky.social.

One of the things that keeps me going back to Twitter is that I get fairly regular DMs on there asking me for advice about reading. Just to be clear: I am more than happy for people to DM on here for the same reason. Please repost this if you think this info might be useful to someone.

@suchmo83.bsky.social @kieran-m-ed.bsky.social @misssdoherty.bsky.social @mralmonded.bsky.social @mrsmithnorwich.bsky.social due to illness I cannot make the TDaPE Conf today. If anyone would like to use my ticket please DM me (free but a small donation to Velindre appreciated if possible)Please RT

Remember conferences… there’s one happening tomorrow. Like the old days. Looking forward to seeing colleagues and friends and learning too.
