The more I think about Captain America: It Takes a Nation of Red Hulks to Hold Us Back, the more disappointed I am that Marvel refuses to engage with the Isaiah Bradley story. A Black soldier victimized and brutalized by the US government all to replicate Steve Rogers? Seems narratively juicy…

Was slightly pressured by a press to rush a cover design job (always baffled when this happens) so I did. Before I sent the options, I forgot I had a contract to sign. There were some questionable items in the contract so I asked questions and...crickets. Like, what is this:

This collection by Nora Nadjarian is one of the best collections I’ve read in a while. Consider buying it from @brokensleepbooks.bsky.social.

My Paisley cat is the fluffiest.

Don't forget to send me poems! And spread the word! I want all the poems!

Being middle aged during these times is wild because it’s like, will I die of a preventable disease, will I die as a casualty in WW3, or will I live long enough to die when humankind gets eradicated by climate change?

Another poem from the old thesis...hope you like snakes (I'm talking to you, Dr. Jones).

I've made a lot of progress on the art for issue 3 of @postcardlit.bsky.social and, just like the last 2 issues, my color palette has a lot to do with that. I'm really excited because my color palette for the new issue is unorthodox...

Reading my own recipe shorthand like…I don’t know if this guy knows what he’s talking about.

A Man on the Inside was a charming show, and Ted Danson remains amazing.

Easily a top 10 favorite album.

"Pardoning political loyalists, whose convicted conduct would otherwise fall on the extreme end of the category of so-called “violent criminals” he aims to punish, makes clear that the Trump admin is only performatively concerned with public safety." Read more ⤵️

Put in my final set of aligners of phase 2 last night. 45 sets total. 17 months total (of the 12 they told me it would take). They want to do a 3rd phase...but I don't know. I'm sick of it and I think I'm satisfied. Though...I have come this far.

Finally found a used copy of this. Loved it when I read it 16-17 years ago and have wanted to reread it for a long time.

People: You can't read in dreams. Me doing a word search in my dream: Oh! I found the word "onion" diagonally and backward!

I've been dreaming again recently; this is a big rarity for me. I always thought text was supposed to be incomprehensible in dreams, but I was definitely doing a word search (when I do dream they are wildly mundane).

Really want to watch Reacher season 3 but I also don't want to support Amazon...fuck.

I need to start submitting this MS, but is anyone interested in reading it first? I think I should have at least 1 set of eyes that aren't mine on it. It's silly and surreal, but also is very much about people who go through the grinder but don't quit. I don't know...maybe that's relevant today?

While Issue 3 is being designed and art-ified, don't forget that there are still copies of Issue 2 available! Pick yours up here: www.postcardlit.com/store

Odd how conservatives are all for the right to protest when it involves storming the capitol with weapons and beating police officers, but if people protest peacefully suddenly protestors should be locked up and executed...we need a smaller word for hypocrisy so that maybe they can understand it.

A Black man with 13 kids by six different women wouldn’t be allowed near the White House much less allowed to run the shadow government.

I have never seen an incoherent mess of a movie like Venom 3. I mean…wow. 15 minutes in and it made no sense, then they kept going. They never even got to the main villain.

I thoroughly enjoy this movie, and even if I didn't I would still be fascinated by its existence.

Another week, another poem from my 2013 thesis...

this is perhaps best called a "soft launch"--with the caveat that all my promotional efforts are soft. my selfpubbed collection THE HORSE is now available on lulu. written during the last time the predator was squatting dc, it's still timely. www.lulu.com/shop/jay-bes...

A student missed the first 4 weeks of my online class. When I asked her what's up, she said she "didn't know" and thought she signed up for "online classes." I explained her schedule, my syllabus (in at least 6 different ways), and my weekly emails that say "in class today" should have been a hint.

We made a chocolate cheese cake with a chocolate ganache and an Oreo crust…
