Despite my always telling Mr Shed to hold on to the rail beside the steep garden steps, he's just skipped down them at speed, hands-free. Wet steps too, from rain. I told him that his feet aren't as stable at his age as he thinks and that he's not bloody Rudolf Nureyev! Wasting my breath, I know 🤣

Arm still achy from my second shingles vax yesterday, but not terrible. Had a vertigo spell when lying in bed last night but I think that's more to do with having shoved a problem ear plug into my ear canal over and over again because it wouldn't stay put

Tomorrow I'm going to shift my dental appointment. I rarely do this (unless ill) but we have family coming. I'll be giving five weeks' notice so hardly a major sin. Only a check-up, so can either be brought forward or I'll wait. Booking six months' ahead every time means this is bound to happen!

Temperatures far more tolerable here today. Can get back to tidying the garden (without going overboard). Will probably just deadhead the spent peonies, which took a real battering, first with the recent winds and then finished off by the heat. Still, they were lovely in the brief time they lasted 😊

Animals that pass through our garden are all drinking the water we put out for them. Foxes, neighbouring cats, robin, magpies, blackbirds, gulls (one gull in particular flies down from a neighbouring roof every day) and no doubt the nocturnal animals we don't see. Constant visits in this heat!
