Yes! Remember seeing GP and telling him I thought I was perimenopausal. Blood test said "No". Went back 6 months later and: "Well you weren't, but you certainly are now. In fact you've hit menopause." Me: licks finger and holds it in the air. One nil to me! 😁 These are the human interactions I want

Pies with superb pastry, vegetables, lovely roast potatoes. I get it! (Am a bit like that myself 😊) Carbs, protein, greens. What else do we need 😁

My Heidi notes, which I looked at after a remote GP consult, were really long (paragraphs of it) and FULL of waffle. My waffle. If I could have crossed most of it out, I would have done. It was totally irrelevant. Consult was about levothyroxine dosage. It hardly needed "War and Peace" for that!

Always remember his friend Gary Oldman speaking of when Bowie revealed his cancer diagnosis to him, following it up with "The good news is I've got my cheekbones back." That was our boy. So typically him ❤️

I'd (sort of) argue that youth must not be burdened by such things and should have their eyes on the "now", otherwise they may hold back from doing the things that youth must instinctively do (which would be a tragedy for us all). But certainly at 35 then they should think about it 😉

Agreed. And who can forget the delight Elton gave us all during lockdown with "I'm Dill Dandin'" 😁 Love him! Bowie's voice was still top-notch but he had the sense to know when to step back when ill health hit him. The odd guest appearance but that was it. Class act to the end, in more ways than one

P.S. When we're invited to weddings (rarer these days) on the special dietary requirements request Mr Shed might as well take out a big black marker pen and write in huge capital letters "NO FISH!" 🤣 Which is sort of what he does, but in biro 😁

It's a power play! 🤣 I still put up with story of how Mr Shed grossed out as a child when he saw his gran messily eating fish. He's never eaten it to this day. As a result we never have fish, apart from tuna for me with sandwiches/salad and occasional chip shop cod and chips to Mr Shed's sausage 😂

McCartney's voice is pretty shot on the live stage now but I guess if you can put on a spectacular with lights, audiovisuals and still many people globally who want to say "I saw him" (which is big money) then you're not inclined to retire anytime soon. Not the same for Stewart tho' by a long way!

Same for me. Then again, we considered my gran at 50 to be an old woman. Floral frocks, sensible shoes, half a pint of stout at the local "old men's" pub, all friendly with the vicar. So far removed from what we saw as our own world

🤣 He doesn't know he's born, getting proper home made chicken stock!! Sounds like he'd prefer a beef Oxo cube with everything! 😁

😁 I knew it was coming when I saw the crestfallen look on his face when I got out the stitch unpicker and said "Here's how you use it." 🤣

Anyhow, I've just done it. To be fair he did watch and has now realised how quick and easy it is to do. No excuse next time. 😁

I prefer a med student, tbh. In my experience whenever there's a student in the room with me I get to find out more about myself, clinically speaking, because the doc is explaining stuff to them and I get to listen. Even a med student on their own would give me more to walk away with than Heidi 😊

Doesn't mean we have to consent to it though. Consent is key. I was asked if I consented to Heidi being used in the consult I had with the remote GP (as if Heidi were a third person present, which it sort of is) and I said "Yes". I may not hold that position in future, however.

As a patient I'm in agreement. For me the notes are a record of private communications/conversations I've had with NHS clinical staff, to be passed on as necessary WITHIN the NHS and not outside of it. So I'm 3/2 as well 😊

Depends on whether you trust the private tech company. Or the company they sell on to in the future. I did an Ancestry DNA test last year. Ticked the boxes for DNA not to be used for research and for sample to be destroyed straight after. No way for me to know for sure if that actually happens.

Must admit I was horrified tho' by this news story yesterday. Worst idea ever! An overstretched, understaffed hospital catching me on a day when I'm in a bad mood, and my stroppy feedback cuts departmental funding. Which would make it even worse for me, care-wise! www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

P.S. And it's not just patient privacy that needs to be watched. During my Heidi session with remote GP I bitched a bit about a hospital consultant I hadn't been happy with. Thankfully hadn't named him! Didn't end up in my notes but I was unnerved afterwards about where do the actual RECORDINGS go!

Had remote GP consult where Heidi was used. Saw notes afterwards on NHS App. They were VERY long! Must admit I wanted to take a red editing-pen to them. Apart from core detail there seemed a lot that was superfluous. Mainly my waffling. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I don't pause for breath

P.S. I've just checked my phone and I imagine our GP must be doing quite well at the moment. I've had 12 text messages from them since January. All core stuff. Other messages, mainly automated (daily! yikes!) appointment reminders are from the NHS app messaging service

Ah, that explains it! Well this will digitally exclude a LOT of people. NHSE are insane to do this! I can handle tech stuff (even tho' I find it a pain) but I'm aware that at 70 years old that likely won't remain the case forever. My mum had Alz so I know how tech knowledge disappears (is destroyed)

Access is for vaccs is something that takes concentrated effort for left-behind folk, and the NHS struggles to fund those any longer.
I think the mass vacc of COVID made it worse where one-size-fits-all mega sites were seen as the best choice, all about numbers rather than who actually comes.

Our GP has started using the message service on the NHS app lately. I find this a pain as it means I have to log in to see the message, do 2-factor authentication thing, etc. This isn't for core stuff tho'. They still use text messaging re: stuff I need to phone them for, vaccinations due and so on

I970s: went to a friend's rehearsal space where Iggy Pop was rehearsing. On my arrival the band were in full swing (I couldn't see them on the other side of the screen). Really strong vocals! Then Iggy arrived. Strolled through, grabbed the mic, and whoa! Blew the other guy's voice out of the water

Exmouth, Devon, maybe. But as a southerner I'd be tempted to look around in the Northumberland/Durham region for seaside places. Better properties for your money. Plus if you know an area you're less likely to make a mistake re: location. Depends how far away you want to get though!

I left BowieNet when they made it non-subscription. Sounds daft because PK's place was free, but when it comes to the *official* site then opening it up to all made it a less interesting (and fun) space for me. Trickier. I remember you from BWW! 😃

Ah, you're one of those blokes probably that I've seen out on the Marina wall with their fishing gear while my Mr Shed did the circuit with his camera (looking for sea birds). I always hang back near dry land, not venturing very far out! 🤣

Sounds fabulous! I was a (late) BowieNet member having hung out at PK's space for yonks so this gig was a year or so before my BowieNet time. I did win a signed Bnet Ziggy calendar though (since given to my brother) and the Arnold Layne CD 😊 Good ol' Blammo. Those were fun days! 👍
