My retiree F500 company healthcare increased 400% over last 5-years (then they pushed me to marketplace this year where it's another 2.5x higher) so I doubt they'll be able to afford that chunk out of whatever paycheck they pull; they'll be working to pay premiums IF they can find what you outline.

Remember, with higher wages, come higher payroll taxes, SSI, MC, & benefit rates; it isn't just the extra buck to the employee they have to recapture & these businesses are already paying more (just like their workers!) on ALL fixed & variable costs just to tread water. Bigger picture.

Higher wages across the region are very good; higher wages in a local just drive employers to either relocate or hire remote (and pay the rate where the employee lives) or use fewer employees in THIS economy. IMHO this is like "no tax on tips" & the job doesn’t have the reach to keep the promise.

Had a company in LA try this with me after they recovered my stolen car wrecked on the freeway; they got a LOT more compliant after I spoke to the manager & informed him that I would be calling the sheriff & charging him with theft for ANYTHING missing from the car.
