And yes, games obviously depict elements of reality, I am aware. My point was that the actual action of pulling out and using a map in a game does not translate the same as in reality. I don't play RPGs to imitate mundane everyday actions, like a map reading simulator.

Inconvenience and inaccessibility also isn't immersion. I've played plenty of games without minimaps and managed, but many people struggle with their sense of orientation even in reallife. Just give players an option to turn it off instead of trying to sell the lack of a feature as a feature.

Yes, but in reality my POV also doesn't rotate around me while I fight monsters and I don't just log out for sometimes a couple of days at a time. Games are not a depiction of reality. Minimaps help with staying oriented and are more convenient than having to pull out and navigating full maps.

Love it when devs patronize gamers by taking away accessiblility features. A map could easily be toggled off on default, if that's how they intend it to be played, but let's be real, people will just have to constantly go to the full map to reorient themselves. Just as immersion breaking and no fun.

How delusional and out of touch with the market are these people?
How about trying to at least cater to their supposed core audience in the first place.
