"The egg prices were going through the sky" Cheeto says and "they are down 50%". Whaaat?

Absolutely devastating study released last week on North American pollinator biodiversity: "We assessed the extinction risk of nearly 1,600 species of vertebrate and insect pollinators and found that more than one in five species is at risk of extinction."

Very rare to see a research paper devoted to the topic of a post-collapse world. h/t @hopeforfuture1.bsky.social link.springer.com/epdf/10.1007...

Been doomscrolling and hoping for something to lift my spirits before bed. Thank you!

This morning - zero rain in the forecast. Late afternoon - 100% chance of rain and T-storms tonight. I've noticed sudden changes in the forecast for awhile now, well before the NOAA and NWS cuts. Am I just experiencing climate bias or is local short term forecasting less reliable?

Any guesses how many birds and mammals are killed on the road every year? "Estimates can reach to 340 million of birds killed on the roads in USA, 194 million birds, 29 million mammals in Europe and 17 million of birds and mammals in Latin America"

Perfect 🤣🎯

Nebraska farmers love to complain about socialism. Says this Nebraska farmer: "...in 2020... we were subsidized by the government... it ended up being a very profitable year for farmers." Sounds a lot like socialism to me. No self-awareness at all. Makes me livid youtu.be/jWJVyhTv0j8?...

Highly highly recommend following @andreapitzer and tuning into her Degenerate Art YT channel and newsletter for practical insights in how ordinary people can successfully fight authoritarianism. She literally wrote the book on concentration camps - One Long Night.

My new Favorite. 🤪

Why are you hiding your faces?

BREAKING: Newly obtained footage of the abduction of Tufts student Runeysa Ozturk which includes audio of her kidnappers.

Watching the NPR/PBS Doge hearing. 45 minutes in, the hearing largely has been Marjorie Taylor Greene criticizing NPR CEO Katherine Maher over her past political statements and time leading Wikipedia, and PBS over its documentaries about trans people and programming featuring a drag queen.

Great tool to help assess county climate risk. Just enter the county name and pick from the drop-down list. It works. F-47. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Your great-grandchildren might live to witness global temperatures reach 7C even if we manage to limit CO2 emissions 🧪 The odds of such extreme warming are roughly 1 in 10 in a "moderate" emissions scenario, the researchers estimate #climate www.newscientist.com/article/2473...

Why does Trump want Canada and Greenland? Money of course. He is a not climate denier, he and his cabinet are climate disinformation propagandists. Blue good, red bad. From Nature 2024.

🔑 under-discussed point — why they were on signal:

to me, the most amazing thing is how slow these temperature changes are. the big changes in the paleo record, e.g., 20C over 100 million years, correspond to 0.000002C/decade. humans are warming the climate at 0.2C/decade — 100,000x faster.
