Couldn't agree more. Living life as an artist doesn't have to be a financial struggle. Entrepreneurs will often keep their 'day' job while they launch their business, creatives can do the same to give themselves the best chance at success.

I believe mindfulness is a kind of meditation but maybe all meditation leads to mindfulness :D

Even in corporate settings there are people who spend hours tinkering with fonts for their slide deck instead of turning it in to their boss ๐ but creatives seem over represented in dealing with perfection paralysis - super interesting topic ๐๐ผ

This topic is vast, certainly wonโt be the last time I touch on it.
It definitely seems like you could be right, there is also some ADHD/mental health involvement in severe cases.
This time round Iโve focussed on on tips for overcoming but I think root causes could be interesting!

I feel like this is such a common feeling among creatives.
This will not be the last time we touch on this โ

That's a common reaction when we start the thing we should have been doing the whole time. why do we do this to ourselves :D

We have an issue coming out on productivity for creatives. It's a work in progress ironically.
What do you do to 'get in the zone'? if you don't mind sharing.. do you have a dedicated workspace?

I understand. Culture can change but it often changes in one direction. I think vinyl has stayed pretty strong and usually the way I support the artists I love. There's an environmental question somewhere in there too (not sure the impact of vinyl vs CD's)

I would 100% tip my favourite small-medium sized artists (Taylor Swift is probably doing ok--sorry TayTay)

Arghh this is a tough question.
Iโve heard arguments against tipping functions on streaming platforms but I still think it could work. Being able to buy merch direct through these platforms would also reduce friction for potential customers.
There has to be an answer that isnโt being paid 0.3cents
