A magnificent violet cort, Cortinarius violaceus, stands tall above the mossy forest floor πŸ„πŸ“· πŸ“ΈπŸŽž 🌿🌱 🟒 πŸ’œ πŸ„ πŸ„β€πŸŸ« πŸ“·

A lone Mycena, likely Mycena haematopus, the bleeding bonnet mushroom, grows out from underneath a layer of mud along a bank and corrects its direction by sensing gravity. The act of this is called gravitropism! πŸ™ƒπŸ™‚ πŸ„πŸ“· πŸ“ΈπŸŽž 🌿🌱 🩸 πŸ„β€πŸŸ« πŸ„ πŸ“·

This may be the most unique gliophorus mushrooms I've found. I have no idea what species it is, but I imagine it's not G. psittacinus, AKA the parrot mushroom that I love to post. Its uniformly golden yellow and orange hue is so awesome! Would love to find another someday! 🌟 πŸ„πŸ“· πŸ“ΈπŸŽž 🌿🌱 🟑 πŸ„ πŸ“· πŸ„β€πŸŸ«

Some type of pink crust or shelf fungus grows on the end of an old cut log with pink guttation dripping out. Bonus yellow spiky fungus on the side! πŸ„πŸ“· πŸ“ΈπŸŽž πŸ“ πŸ„ πŸ“·

Looking almost like an inorganic object, like twisting green plastic emerging from the earth, this mutated green earth tongue, Microglossum viride, is probably the most unique earth tongue I've discovered. Green earth tongues alone are super cool to find, but this one takes the cake! πŸ„πŸ“· πŸ“ΈπŸŽž 🌿🌱 🟒 πŸ„ πŸ“·

Little yellow/orange egg-like things cling to the side of a fallen tree in the middle of a thick forest on Mt. Hood in Oregon. These unusual looking objects aren't actually eggs, however. These are the fruit bodies of Leocarpus fragilis, one of my favorite slime molds! πŸ₯š πŸ„πŸ“· πŸ“ΈπŸŽž 🌿🌱 πŸ„ πŸ“·

Hydnellum peckii, commonly known as the bleeding tooth fungus, has quite a few other awesome names (Google it! It's pretty entertaining). This particular specimen developed in an odd way, and for some reason, it reminds me of crepes with strawberries and whipped cream πŸ˜‹πŸ“πŸ¦ πŸ„πŸ“· πŸ“ΈπŸŽž 🌿🌱 🟒 πŸ„ πŸ“· πŸ„β€πŸŸ«

A cluster of oyster mushrooms bloom on a dying tree in a thick forest near the Oregon coast. Oyster mushrooms are frequently used in food, but be careful when foraging as they can be mistaken for species like the mushroom named "angel wings," which tend to be smaller and whiter πŸ¦ͺπŸ„πŸŒ² πŸ„πŸ“· πŸ“ΈπŸŽž 🌿🌱 🟒 πŸ„β€πŸŸ« πŸ„ πŸ“·

I believe this super strange looking mushroom is Gyromitra esculenta, though I'm not 100% sure of the species, but I'm confident it's in this genus. These are known as false morels. If you're an experienced morel hunter though, you know this isn't what you're looking for πŸ„πŸ“· πŸ“ΈπŸŽž 🌿🌱 🟒 πŸ„ πŸ“· πŸ„β€πŸŸ«
