@hrbrmstr And they fired all the people who normally would have built it.

@thelinuxcast Has it been pushed into something production? I thought part of the deal with tumbleweed is that sometimes it breaks, like with all rolling Distros. I'm on it rn and I haven't been broken (yet). But I recognize it's a possibility (hence the reason for using snapshots).

@thelinuxcast For all its problems, SELinux is the more feature complete, more functional, more supported capability system. The implementation of any capabilities management & audit system at this level would cause issue(s). SUSE has the opportunity to become the defacto OS for the EU, as it's […]

If you look at the systems that are supposed to be used for classified communications, the underlying cryptography isn’t particularly different from Signal (the AES cipher can be used to protect classified material). That’s not what failed here. The difference is that systems like Signal are […]

[re: Politics, USpol, Crime, Lawmaker, Sex Crime] @ai6yr Local Affiliates vs. National News. The national news leach off of the respectability that the local affiliates generate.

@randahl > All feeling — zero analytical skills. That's the beauty/insanity of economics. Consumer sentiment is emotion based.

@mattblaze Is there a writeup of this from a Journalist organization? I've got some maga family members that have recently been on the fence (I know). But recent events have made them doubt their support. This is the sort of story that might knock some sense back into them.

If there's a fuss about this (as there should be), the web page will no doubt be restored and they'll no doubt say it was removed by "mistake", even as they go around enthusiastically making the same "mistakes" elsewhere.

@stephanie @chris Style is what really matters in liquor anyway. :)

@chris @stephanie And while Bourbon has a similar, ridiculous limitation. There are a number of "Bourbon-Style" whiskeys out of Canada (and other places) that are quite good.

@stephanie @chris I think there's also one in Chile too but don't quote me on it.

@stephanie @chris A cinch of California makes Champagne and it's allowed to label and sell it as such.

@stephanie @chris What? We make a ton of Bubbly here.

@w7voa I was under the impression that essentially everything was covered under FOIA. Are there any Federal Government orgs that are not subject to FOIA?

@ai6yr @HoustonDog it's absolutely true that any legislative action would be completely unenforceable. But I don't think that's ever stopped legislators before.

@ai6yr @HoustonDog It's surprising how much normal people have been trained to always trust computers. I never realized how fundamental that mindset was to people (including close loved ones). Some people seem incapable of understanding that #AI is inherently untrustworthy. I struggle to find […]

@randahl What's crazy is that Trump has Putin by the tail. At any time the US can implement a no-fly zone over the conflict area. If he was truly the deal maker he thought he was he could be negotiating for the vast mineral rights of Russia's Far East instead of the relatively tiny mineral […]

@heidilifeldman Any Lawyers on the fediverse? What does this mean in actuality?
comment in response to post
@randahl Honestly this is the biggest issue with Europe. We (the US) can look at our top line defense spending and clearly see that it's unsustainable. Meanwhile we can peer over to a more wealthy Europe who spends less on defense and see that their armies are lackluster at best. Bulk up. Take […]
