I think it’s wrong to think of the problem with tariffs as the lack of clarity in the policy. That’s just a part of it. The real problem w/ tariffs is that widespread and high tariffs are bad economic policy. Clarity on what a bad policy will be doesn’t make the policy good.

I remember when new models at Tesla had 6 to 9-month wait times. The refreshed Model Y "Launch" edition ($61K) has no wait time. It'll be interesting to see how quickly they open up orders for the normal versions & if the wait list increases.

BREAKING: Wait time for the refreshed Model Y in China is only 2-4 weeks for the lowest-price version (over 90% of sales). This comes after local media reports of 200,000 orders, or 6-9 week implied wait time. Musk's politics haven't tainted Tesla's brand in China so demand must really be weak.
