Art as distraction is exactly the oppressors want you to think about art. Just something to shut you up numb you, dumb you down. But what le Guin is describing is acknowledging the bad shit, understanding it as oppression, and purposefully saying "No. Fuck that. We deserve better."

It's no great wisdom (better scholars than me have written about this), but much of learning to manage my disabilities has been to avoid the trap of "I'm totally better" that'll lead to me fucking myself into a bad state.

It feels weird sometimes to stop when I think I'm in the groove, but I've slowly been learning that much like any scene, it's important to know when to leave the groove early. Especially for me. Stay in too long and the next day my body is busted, my brain broken, and I'm all hollowed out.

Sometimes it's important to be able to get away first so you can breathe. Look up what countries have reasonably decent human rights, then see how many months you can stay on a tourist visa with your passport (which typically is quite powerful, lol, make use of that). Usually at least 3 months.

This isn't to say there's no risks to each avenue of tactic, but that ultimately you're better off abandoning this "law and protocol" mindset because it is fundamentally a philosophy that'll neuter you the minute the "law" advocates slavery, genocide, segregation, systemic rape, and whatever else.

Fixating on Luigi and "vigilantism" as an idea is ultimately unproductive to me. So is trying to force a weak moral relativism of "but see how these people sound so similar but are bombing abortion clinics!" Like, yeah dumbass, and MLK led marches as did Nazis.

the way to stop people doing nazi shit is to create an environment where doing nazi shit immediately gets you jumped by six guys, do not pass go, ass kicking first and ask questions later. every goth & punk bar on god's gay earth already figured this out in the 90s
