Not merely ill-equipped, but terrified and wholly uninterested. They'd rather have an hour-long panel discussion on live tv about their salary, debt, and how they spend their money.

I hear you, but I also understand not rushing into the conflagration anymore to save other people who threw themselves in. Some of us will let the those people's bodies fuel the fire that comes to burn us. Years ago in various situations I decided "If you're not willing, I'm not able."
