Their response to "he's violating the Constitution" is really "but bro is so sick at coding." US rule of law in shambles. Tech ideology is really that kind of caricature of itself.

🔥 NEW report: Europe’s #heating transition is at a critical crossroads. Without stronger policies, over 50 million fossil gas boilers could be installed in Europe by 2040 - threatening climate goals, #energysecurity & #cleantech leadership. 🏠⚡ Key findings ⬇️ 1/7

A Finnish 🇫🇮 study highlights that commuting by bicycle significantly reduces sickness absence among municipal employees. Active cyclists, covering over 30 km weekly, had an 8–18% lower risk of sickness absences and averaged 4.5 fewer sick days annually than passive commuters.

Early result of Congestion Pricing show a 51%(!!) drop in traffic injuries compared to the same period in 2024. Obviously there will be some bounce back, but it means there are already ~40 in walking around NYC who *would* have been a crash victim otherwise. nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/01/23/c...

There is nothing like revisiting the success story that keeps on giving, ie Greece. And few are as committed to portraying Greece’s Wirtschaftswunder as the Financial Times, with the latest report coming from the economic trenches only a few hours ago. Brace yourselves for 🎉🥂 ....

"I can't see a model for the future of humanity that I like coming out of China, India or The States. But I can see it in Europe."

Okay, I have to do a thread on this pretty amazing article because it is just seriously chockers with eye-opening stats about 'direct air capture' - ie, sucking up air and trying to remove carbon dioxide from it news.mit.edu/2024/reality...

"Tire particles are a significant but often-overlooked contributor to microplastic pollution. They account for 28% of microplastics entering the environment globally."

HOT OFF THE PRESS: EU is a long way from reaching its lofty 20m green hydrogen consumption goal by 2030. Sober report from ACER shows: Right now hydrogen is a decarbonisation problem. 99.7% of hydrogen consumed in EU comes from fossil fuels. www.acer.europa.eu/sites/defaul...

If you bring central London to a halt in order to campaign against catastrophic climate change then you're a "barmy" eco "fanatic" who deserves to be locked up. If you do the same to hang on to your multimillion pound inheritance tax exemption then you're a brave freedom fighter defying the odds

Dietary change in an uneven world: "More than half of the global population, which is presently overconsuming, would save 32.4% of global emissions through diet shifts, offsetting the 15.4% increase in global emissions from presently underconsuming populations moving towards healthier diets."

$7 trillion per year - that’s the amount of fossil fuel subsidies the world provides according to the the International Monetary Fund. This includes both direct and indirect subsidies. HT Assaad Razzouk

Norway's GHG emissions have declined 9% since 1990: * Most declines in manufacturing, due to a phase out of PFCs & SF6 * Decent drop in CH4 (industry, agriculture) * Recent decline in road transport due to electric vehicles * Recent decline in oil & gas, not offsetting earlier years * Air / sea up

Probably not because it's a dumb idea.

Data centers now consume 21% of all the electricity in Ireland, more than all the homes in its cities and towns combined. Cloud providers still want more. This drive for ever-increasing computation serves no one but the bottom lines of major tech companies. It must be stopped.
