Trump team set to destroy $12m worth of HIV drugs and contraceptives that were bought before closing USAID The life-saving drugs and contraceptives have been sitting in warehouses since January. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/a...

Thread that caught important bad nuances of the memo authorizing use of the military. As written it allows far, far, far more than what's going on in LA

🧵 The bullshit machines do not think. They are not intelligent. "I took your question and found those words correlated with these words and sometimes tangentially related to these other words. Am I making you happy and satisfied? No? I can keep doing this all day."

Because the city couldn’t be bothered to provide this at the presser just now… (More numbers in alt text)

Sigh

Short thread abut the dynamics of protests and the state’s response to them:

it’s really cute how chuds have no idea that Mexicans in California produce most of their food

This is just really great, the whole thing.

"both" is also very much in play!

PROTEST (and I cannot emphasize this enough) DANCE PARTIES. Laugh at these facist losers dressed in all black. Wear bright colors and dance and sing. Humiliate these losers. This is the way.

Arguably 300,000 wholly preventable, gratuitous deaths already from gutting USAID. If this ends up basically banning vaccines, how many thousands more preventable gratuitous deaths? And almost all of children. Death of children, simply everywhere.

A bit of good news for the day

Can it be that the Third Amendment will finally be useful?

A few words about “peaceful protests.” 1. At least 5% of people are uncontrollable assholes and will behave badly in any situation, let alone a high-tension one. So a large protest without ANYONE throwing shit, yelling slurs or for violence, etc. is likely not achievable. /1

What concerns me most is one of the main differences I noticed is mainstream US opinion tends to leans towards "protestors are in the wrong". Someone threw a rock, stole a TV, impeded traffic, whatever. Makes it insanely easy for the government to justify excessive force without political blowback.

So Mirriam Webster has announced that 'FRIDGE' is an official word in their dictionary now, and sited me as the concept's creator in the definition. Very cool, and weird at the same time. I got death threats over this, cool for it it to be recognized. www.merriam-webster.com/slang/fridge

When Senator Bill Cassidy announced he would vote to confirm RFK Jr, he included this in his statement: “If confirmed, he will maintain the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices without changes.” WITHOUT CHANGES.

It's November 2025. Reeling from the most devasting hurricane season on record with no relief from the government, most of the country is plagued by old & new diseases & vaccines are illegal. Your city like most is under military occupation, from when your mayor didn't kiss Trump's ass fast enough.

this shit is BONKERS

a thread for when anyone says "protest like the 60s civil rights movement"

“The lawsuit contends that Trump’s move illegally infringed upon Newsom’s role as commander in chief of the California National Guard.“ apple.news/AXqmaRLKLRkS...

It’s the total sacking of a country by Corporations, billionaires and half a dozen foreign nations. But with no invading army. Just dark money.

The conflict of interest is that they believe in science.

Trump made the troops homeless. Incredible work, sir

It's incredible how consistently Trump treates everyone around him like complete shit even when it would be in his direct interest to do otherwise.

Or the Israeli flag which is plastered all over Congress

The Department of Homeland Security and Vice-President JD Vance are publicly targeting @dieworkwear.bsky.social

I think it's important to continuously reiterate that federal science funding grants in the US (and elsewhere) are made because the government, with the input of panels of independent experts, have concluded that the work being done is IN THE INTEREST OF THE NATION.

Trump Issues Executive Order Reversing All Vasectomies theonion.com/trump-i...

So I got real mad and went to town in somebody else's comments last night (not at them) but I think it's a topic that deserves more attention so here we go: Why I talk so much shit about cops in general but LA-area cops in particular and openly cast doubt on their claims every chance I get

propose a giant "growth for growth's sake" merger resulting in price hikes, endlessly layoffs, and a shittier overall product to goose stock price and grab tax cuts, then unwind the whole thing as you slather the incompetent executive in charge with a $52 million pay package ingenious stuff boys

Either that or militarized cops will use any excuse to exercise violent power over others, indiscriminately, especially in chaotic situations, and that's built in to their purpose and function. It's not a mistake or an oversight or a rules violation when they face no negative consequences.

"The company is waiting for suppliers in Europe to finish work on $20 million in orders it placed before 10% tariffs took effect on April 9. That means he faces a $2 million levy if tariffs stay at that level." www.wsj.com/economy/trum...

"Trump’s scheme to upend the rule of law in this country — and install himself as a quasi-dictator, who gets a 'taste' of whatever business he chooses — is going to induce many investors to look elsewhere to make their investments." — @davidrlurie.bsky.social

"Anyone now in downtown L.A. subject to arrest" - they have shut down an area of roughly 9 square miles. 90,000 people live in that part of the city.

This is 100% accurate, every time:

Standing in the smoldering crater that used to be my backyard in Los Angeles, now a lawless hellscape, burning a spliff and thinking about how this guy is definitely gonna use this screencap as his new Tinder profile photo

"EVERYONE IS ILLEGAL"

Just stacks of boxes of ammo behind these guys

Protesters in LA are doing an amazing job keeping the cops literally driving in circles

Hearing multiple reports that Waymos were targeted in DTLA because of their surveillance capabilities—their cameras record environment data, and Google turns that data over to PDs upon request. If you were there or have knowledge about this, pls DM for my Signal, would love to hear more.
