Pretty amusing that instead of characters from other Nintendo IPs, as was hoped, the new Mario Kart is instead adding such icons such as… cow. Hilarious.

Fans are grappling with how The Wind Waker on NSO means that the “rumored” Wind Waker HD port isn’t happening. Which I think a lot of us called years ago.

An alright Direct. I feel like the hardware discussion could’ve been slightly shrunk to make way for more games. Still, they showed a bunch of fun shit, even if most of them are ports. Exclusive FromSoftware title was a huge surprise. Never would’ve predicted that.

I'm more than 40 hours into Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, but my dad is at "45 hours or more." I wasn't sure how he'd take to this flavor of Xenoblade, so I'm glad that he's enjoying it. He says that his favorite is XC3, though. I can't say I disagree.

Wishing a Happy Trans Day of Visibility to all trans game devs, whether you're visible or not.

Guess I should give these a proper playthrough. At least I have plenty of time before the new title.

Truly no reaction like a Sulky reaction. 😉

An alright Direct. Plenty of good games, but light on surprises. Wasn’t worth getting up early to watch.

Almost seven hours in, Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition has addressed almost every grievance I had with the original. A lot of those grievances were because of horrible tutorials, so I'm thrilled that they've improved them so much.

~ 2025 Game Completions ~ 08 ~ System Shock 2 (1999) / GOG: Flexible character progression and forward-looking gameplay hindered by obnoxious enemies, particularly towards the end. Basically a better BioShock.

Dad finished Xenoblade Chronicles 3. After we discussed the story and what he wanted clarification on (he's not great at following plot), he's now replaying the game so he can do everything. Fresh save, too. Not a New Game Plus.

~ 2025 Game Completions ~ 06 ~ Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana (2025) / Nintendo Switch: A frenetic Action RPG that doesn't outstay its welcome. A handful of later bosses are on the annoying side, though.

😡

Talking with my dad, he's currently in the prison sequence of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It's killing me that I won't be able to watch his reaction to upcoming events. ☠️

Watching the new Like a Dragon makes me want to continue the series where I left off . . . in the middle of Yakuza 0. I'm a bit behind, I suppose.

Boooo!

~ 2025 Game Completions ~ 05 ~ Battlefield 1 (2016) / PlayStation 4: Single-player campaign only. Jumping around a handful of WWI fronts is neat, but it can be finished in an afternoon. Enemy AI is rather mediocre, too.

~ 2025 Game Completions ~ 04 ~ Quake 64 (2021) / Nintendo Switch: Either I'm learning to enjoy Quake or the N64 port is an improvement. I'm guessing the former. Certain enemies are still annoying to fight, though.

A few bright spots (Shinobi!), but an otherwise lackluster State of Play.

Pretty sure I'm going to die from a stress-induced heart attack before he's out of office. Hell, I don't like my chances of surviving the year.

~ 2025 Game Completions ~ 03 ~ Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake (2024) / Nintendo Switch: An enjoyably old-school RPG with a lot of freedom in progression, but fights towards the end became more frustrating than fun.

1998 Enix: "What if we made Dragon Quest III's last dungeon full of the most annoying things that enemies can do. Attack multiple times, put people to sleep, reflect magic, screw with accuracy, one-hit kills. Make encounters full of these assholes, too." 2024 Enix: "Change none of that. Fuck you."
