Bought a cheap elgato thunderbolt dock off ebay. Opened it up because i do and was not expecting to see a full PCIE x4 slot on the inside. This could make for fun hackery

Couldn’t resist. But gotta say im really happy with the build quality on this.

I now own one of these. Why did I acquire one of these?

This scares me much more than anything else. Mainly because people are pursuing this in an attempt at perfection without thought to the consequences of this. It WILL be abused and it WILL be used to mislead people. People will use this to lie. We shouldn’t let them. www.reddit.com/r/interestin...

USB PSX style memory stick makes me chuckle

Cleaning up in the “office” and noticed my gameboy is not doing as well. Maybe I should convince Elliot Coll into looking at it lol

Slipstreamed both iPhone and Android NDIS drivers so tethering will be a thing. Not sure what I will need internet on the go for but hey its there. And yes I could use WiFi hot-spotting but this lets me also use the 4G/5G USB dongles too.

Windows 11 at 640x480 is kinda funny. Id love to try 320x240 but alas Id need to screw around with the EDID for that… Which I intend to do anyway

Legitimately my first time being on the london underground

Took about 3 months but finally found a grey usb c to usb c that isnt braided but PVC and to boot its also as thick as PS1 controller cables. Time to reprint @jeffchen.bsky.social’s PSX plug!

I heard on @thisweekinretro.bsky.social that Rich from @retrocollective.co.uk doesn't like a PCB with no LEDs. So for him I have expanded this board from 1 to 3 LEDs, because he is right, you always want to see what power rails are present at a glance!

Its tight in these things. So trying out some flat flex cables as a new-to-me idea. And whilst 3D printed flat flex cables are the future, we’re not quite there yet, so if this works, I’ll be getting some polymide ones from @pcbwayofficial.bsky.social

Hardest schematic I ever done did draw.

Who ever is maintaining the 3D viewer, @kicad.org, I owe them a round of beer. It has taken so much guesswork and trial and error out of the design of the DDR cab project!

Getting so tired of seeing soulless AI generated drivel on YouTube. At first you dont think about it and then when you see it, you just know its all a game to play algorithms for cheap cash whilst ripping off honest people’s work

Testing the design with thin plastic covers first. Not sure which has more screws, the main cabinet or just one side of the stage.

Sometimes I really hate Fusion 360's timeline. I swear it will just make up random reasons to stop working.

Things are getting tight enough that I might have to start using flat flex cables just to make it work how I wanted to

PRESENTING BEMANI'S ... STAGE

My first (and only) successful pancake

Messing around with translucent filament for the buttons. Needs tweaking but looking much better and now I can use the buttons without cocktail sticks!

@icedragon.io With snek board, would it be possible to have an adaptor with a simple logic circuit to support older systems like Mega Drive, commodore 64 etc? I can imagine a lot of people in the retro group would love snekboard given the price and convenience of it

Top tip, if installing Vista and using Legacy Update… do not run updates in sysprep mode. It goes into a reboot loop and only a full reinstall or using a registry editor on offline windows will fix it. Ask me how i know

It may have taken… uh… near enough a year, but I finally sorted the header PCB to both serve as a bit of tidying up and a place to light up the translite

My candle sticks didnt fit the holder nice for yesterdays dinner. So fixed it.
