Well they won a cup with Francouz going 6-0 so that did make me feel better but also good to see Pickard stepping up, he’s a really good dude that’s hard not to root for.

To be fair the Avs also Roy who just decided to stop letting goals in after game 6 but yeah I don’t understand the lack of energy from EDM

Werenski is better than Hughes now too
comment in response to post
Hughes has been passed by Werenski and is no longer in the conversation for best Defenseman…. Oh well!

Very funny to see Drais finish 2nd in Hart voting and ahead of every other skater but not be named first team All-Star… oh well🤷‍♂️

Outside of CAP space I don’t get where all the “Coyle isn’t a fit in CO” stuff is coming from. He’s exactly what they have been looking for in a 3C and thought overall he played really well even when he wasn’t scoring

Thank you for this update

Any truth to the “report” from Frank Seravalli that Necas turned down $9m per year from the Avs?
comment in response to post
Hughes doesn’t even play the toughest matchups or kill penalties. He’s an elite D but you know you would take Makar over Hughes in a heartbeat
comment in response to post
At least you did draft Nolan Patrick or use 3 consecutive picks on busts before Barzal got drafted

Canucks fans see they how everyone voted…

Clickbait. Coyle’s fit with the Avs is big & fast 3C that kills penalties. He stabilized the 3rd line after the failed Colton experiment at C. The Mackinnon blowup is a non-story, if they trade Coyle it will be purely for cap reasons. Colton is the player with an uncertain fit as a 3W making $4m
comment in response to post
Yeah that was a scrub move by DET to wait until they were back on home ice to pull all that

Evan is probably the best Avs beat reporter so I trust him over Kypreos bsky.app/profile/evan...

I’ve had one hard freeze but nothing during gameplay
comment in response to post
Yeah especially if he shrugged off their pre-trade meeting with CAR as”negotiating tactics”

Hard pass on all these guys, not sure why anyone would think Pageau would play with Landy & Nuke when Nelson just resigned. On top of that his CAP hit basically the same as Coyle’s without the added security of an extra year on his contract
comment in response to post
The next best FA option would probably have been Matt Duchene which probably isn’t an option seeing as how he requested a trade from the guys still in charge of the Avs
comment in response to post
I had to make sure this wasn’t actually an onion headline

The Avs when you ask them about picks & prospects:
comment in response to post
Agree, excited to see what he can do between Nuke & Landy. Kadri’s production was similar if not worse than Nelson’s before he broke out in his last year with COL while playing with mostly Landy & Nuke.
comment in response to post
Yeah agree, too many brain farts to handle any top 6 Center role otherwise they wouldn’t have resigned Nelson. Either way I’m pretty confident another big move or 2 is still on the Horizion for the Avs. Funny side note Lehky’s dad went of on Mikko in the Finnish press earlier in the year lol
comment in response to post
the dad thing would be annoying after O’Reilly’s dad forced him out. Kypreos reporting is hit & miss but I do think they will make a decision before the season starts to avoid another Mikko situation. I don’t understand how Necas going public with that info helps him unless he has a spot picked
comment in response to post
I think CMAC maybe would have in hindsight but at the time he also extended Manson, Nuke & Lehky so there was literally no cap room. Same with ERod
comment in response to post
No CMac has far more hits than misses. Getting a reliable 2C for under $8m and shorter term is a W especially with the cap going up and will be in the same ball park %wise as Mitts deal. Blackwood deal is also looking like an absolute steal especially if Kovy goes back to the KHL. Biggest ? Is Necas
comment in response to post
Keyrock legit would have done a better job too lol

Not sure who would be of interest to the Avs. If they resign Nelson the top of the line up will be set so they would need either a top 6 F or top 4 D back that would be an upgrade from Necas or Girard/Manson so don’t really see a fit.

Send him to Philly for Konecny
comment in response to post
That would be too high for the Avs , I believe he turned down some multi year offers in the $4m range last year to stay in CO, his agent didn’t seem too happy about leaving $$ on the table but said that’s what his client wanted so he got it done
comment in response to post
Mackinnon would have 6 stolen bases per game 💪

He had a bunch of assists but only 5 goals. He carried the team at times during his 55 goal season but has been wildly inconsistent since then. All the skill in the world but just disappears for like 5-10 game stretches at a time now

Classic Rantanen experience
comment in response to post
Seeing what he can do over a full season might be the best option available outside of another trade. $7m ballpark would be reasonable, if he resigns I think Colton is gone and hopefully can unload Wood without giving up too much
comment in response to post
Makes sense, much appreciated! Side note it’s kinda wild Kovy is thinking about headed back to the KHL already
comment in response to post
Would loaning him to the KHL still burn a year off his ELC or does it slide a year?
comment in response to post
Both, they never looked good 5-on-5 to begin with and EDM had done an outstanding job of limiting chances off the rush
comment in response to post
Sounds like he’s not a great skater so I think it would be hard for him to be a consistent play driver in the Avs system
comment in response to post
What happened to Wyatt Johnston??
comment in response to post
We tried to warn everyone about disappearing Mikko just like Canes fans told us about playoff Necas. Other than being tiny what is the big knock against Stankoven to bring everything full circle?
comment in response to post
How so? The Avs looked great 5-on-5 while the Stars haven’t been able to score or do much of anything unless their on the PP

They traded him last time because they knew he needed top pair minutes and wasn’t going to get that in CO and nothing has changed since then.
