Something that’s very clear is that Trump is old and checked out. He wants to play the role of president but has zero interest in doing the job and is happy to outsource the real work to Musk, Vought and a crew of feral zealots.

I called his win last year as soon as the incumbent announced his run. I'm also calling his death before the end of term. Somewhere before end 2026

🚨 New Story Alert: "For civil society organizations, particularly those in repressive environments, this directive is more than a bureaucratic adjustment; it is a potential security threat. " Link: www.kuchutimes.com/2025/02/radi...

History: “Eventually the incompetent fascists invariably lose power and then society recovers in a new and stronger way” Me: “Oh, cool, so what has to happen for the spell to be broken??” History: “mmmm…well, that part is less encouraging.”

If you must, use deepseek over other AI and don't ever use AI to answer your question. It has too much of an agenda and literally makes shit up half the time

Me being a broken record on this: Don't trust consumer-facing "AI" for anything.

The African Union summit calls on all member states to sever ties with Israel and fully isolate it until it halts its genocidal aggression.

Off topic: I finally watched the Wham! documentary and it’s really good and I love both of them. Refreshing to remember, among all the chaos, that there is goodness in the world.

Americans are wild. Telling ppl being threatened with annexation to be nice to the people living in the imperial center is wild

Yes it counts as reading but it *not* reading. Why yall so obsessed with this? Either ways the person knows what's in the book and that's all that matters

Rewatching the Last of Us in preparation for season 2. Happy to report its Still just as good

Aspirational!

Learning new platforms is annoying, but I guarantee you it is worth it because you don't want to depend on any single one of these apps/sites. It's inevitable that they will try and shut down one thing or the other but if we are flexible, we can stay a step ahead. Digital ungovernability, y'all-

Seeing a Cybertruck really does ruin your day. Because wtf is that

✨reminder: crying is helpful!!✨ the science of tears has always been super cool to me. tears literally wash away some of the stress hormones. they signal for production of oxytocin and endorphins to reduce physical and emotional pain. all of which helps your body return to homeostasis. i realized

The book “The Burning Earth” covers 800 years of history to explain how we arrived at the current environmental crisis.

someday we will have the technology to turn the plastic accumulating in each of our brains into a personalized McDonald’s happy meal toy but until then we must continue gathering

The cognitive dissonance of getting up every morning and making coffee and walking the dog and going to meetings and answering emails and wondering what to make for dinner while there is a real live actual coup d’etat happening is BONKERS

You listen to an audiobook, not reading it. When you are done, you say "I finished that audiobook". And then we talk about it as we were talking about any other book - as it doesn't matter if you read it or listen to it, both are worth the same. You are worth the same. 💜

Unpopular opinion of the day: Audiobooks are not reading. Audiobooks are *listening*. You're still obtaining information, but audiobooks are a different way of obtaining information compared to the physical act of reading. You use a different part of your brain to read vs. to listen.

What if there were a coup, the US government fell to a drug-addled oligarch who seized control of our money, secrets, and levers of power, and Corporate media did not report on it?

Also, one of Trump’s great advantages is that he has very few things he actually believes in, which gives him a lot of latitude. But he has a genuine personal ideological zeal for tariffs. You can find him praising them in interviews 30 years ago.

Honestly it's not ethical to buy ANYTHING from the US

🤣🤣🤣🤣

I say this as someone who detests that man - The apprentice should've been nominated for Best picture and sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong should win their Oscar noms

If you're still on Twitter, get off now. Immediately. Delete your account. Not only is it obviously a safety risk for you, it is also morally unjustifiable.

Ofc we not all *good* storytellers and the internet is full of ppl at their worst but part of the point of putting ur art out there is ppl interacting with it. And u either ignore the reaction or accept its presence. Asking ppl to only tag u in complimentary things and not critical ones is stupid

I dunno what's up with this separation between reader and writer. We're all in community together - we all like reading and telling stories. Every single person I know who's passionate abt reading to the extent they wrote a review or join a book club or post abt a book are also/want to be writers

Got overly excited about some Caribbean sci-fi and wanted the next book by the author to be better so tagged them in a review. Jokes on me cos they didn't see it that way atall 😆 lesson learnt

“the vibes have shifted” is passive voice. “tech oligarchs made deliberate changes to social media algorithms which altered the way most people perceive reality in a successful attempt to engineer business-favorable outcomes” is more EW WOKE CRINGE but it’s also direct, accurate, and meaningful

I’ve spent about 2-3 hours each day on calls or chats with my US gov friends. Here’s an anonymized recap of what’s going on. First, I am so very sorry that they are living our last year at Twitter. I never wanted to think about that time again, and I hope my advice is helpful. 1/
