And yet he continues to vote to confirm unqualified nominees. Calls are not returned from his office. His staff will nicely take your concern, but he doesn’t take action.

It also strikes at the heart of the phrase “and them”. No more going home to see your “mamma and them”.

That’s flailing and shows the weakness. Lawsuits rolling out are making them waver.

The use of abstracts from medical studies to push anti-vax misinformation is an example. Influencers cherry pick parts of abstracts rather than use entire studies which would harm their arguments. Generally, abstracts don’t contain enough info to determine study quality.

It’s not a matter of “liking” the results. The author presents readability of PhD and Master’s theses as being an issue the undermines trust of the public at large. Sloppy, lazy assumptions lead to misinformation used by bad faith actors. Just look at the state of public health discourse.

Not “whinnying” by calling out nonsense that makes teaching and communication more difficult. This sloppy “study” will be used by bad faith actors to demonize researchers and their work.

🙄 abstract reviews, not reviews of the theses, the complexity of any given subject within them. Also ignores the fact the intended audiences not being the general public…This is lazy, sloppy analysis and does the public no favors. Retract this.

Important questions to ask: What is the pacing of the course (semester, quarter, summer session)? What are the key points you’ll assess learning? How will you assess learning? What does success look like for students in your course?

Solid choices, but I can’t pick just 3. Everything written/produced by Yoko Kanno alone makes the choice too difficult
