Richest guy in the world telling us we can’t afford to have our government fund cancer research.

The bloodbath at NOAA apparently included meteorologists with the National Weather Service; scientists inside what’s simply known as NOAA Research, or the office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR) more formally; technicians that keep up the country’s weather instrumentation;

NEW: Senator Marshall (R-KS) RUNS AWAY, fleeing his own town hall after being asked about DOGE firing Veterans. MAKE HIM GO VIRAL.

One neat thing about all this is Trump got really mad when people would accuse him during his first term of secretly trying to do a quid pro quo with Zelensky and now this term he’s just openly telling everyone who will listen: I’m doing a quid pro quo, I want my minerals

Brutal.

Alexander Vindman: Lindsey Graham is an absolute coward. Trump didn’t sound strong—he was attacking an ally when he didn’t need to. All Zelenskyy said was that Trump couldn’t trust Putin. And JD Vance—he looked like an absolute clown. I don’t understand why Trump let Vance blow up his deal.

The dignified, low-level rage and contempt Zelensky channels as he confronts Trump and Vance is a model for what leadership could look like right now, and it's hard to imagine any top Democrat pulling it off.

right on schedule, it seems www.cnn.com/2025/02/28/p...

Slava Ukraini. And #dumptrump NOW.

www.washingtonpost.com/video/politi... This is so embarrassing. What a stooge.

Not making this up “He was planning to reorganize the Federal Bureau of Investigation with a regional command structure, raise fitness requirements for special agents and arrange a partnership between the FBI and the UFC cage-fighting league…” www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

Again, any time a Republican says we have to slash Medicaid to fix the deficit, they need to be asked why we shouldn’t just increase taxes on the rich. It’s a zero sum game. Make them defend giving more money to billionaires over keeping ordinary people healthy.

The federal government is methodically hunting and rooting out LGBTQIA+ people from service (with the help of alt right trolls) and this is the best NYT could muster. It’s pathetic and dangerous.

We now have several examples of DOGE willy-nilly firing employees in federal operations, then having to rehire them for their critical jobs. Remind me again why “incompetent” isn’t applied to Musky folks calling federal workers lazy & bad at what they do? (Yes, other words also apply to the DOGIES.)

It's a death cult. These people are psychopaths. And they already have blood on their hands.

Something that’s very clear is that Trump is old and checked out. He wants to play the role of president but has zero interest in doing the job and is happy to outsource the real work to Musk, Vought and a crew of feral zealots.

On the HHS Leadership call today: 1 employee from CMS (Center for Medicare/Medicaid Service) and 2 employees from SSA (Social Security Administration) have died by suicide after their firing.

A child dies of measles while COVID treatments are being spiked. RFK Jr is off and running

my superpower for predicting things? paying attention to what people with power say and do

Elon Musk is now presiding over the cabinet meeting. They're not beating the co-president allegations. (And co-president might be putting it charitably for Trump.)

This is money already owed. For work already done. They’re asking SCOTUS to let Trump run the government the way he runs his businesses.

When you take a step back, it’s genuinely stunning how far any of this is from anything Trump campaigned on. It aligns perfectly w Project 2025 of course, but in terms of Trump’s public rhetoric, this was totally absent.

This is actually bad.

i can't say what should happen to rfk jr but lets all use our imaginations

Five alarm fire. www.politico.com/news/2025/02...

This is evil. Pure evil.

The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.

How’s this WSJ take aging

Brave to @jeffstein.bsky.social, WaPo's chief economics correspondent, for not wasting any time in stating what must be stated. Hopefully the first of many.

Had a conversation with a non political person whose buddy works for the forest service and was 10 months into his job supplying hard to reach parts of a national forest and was fired. The guy talking to me was like “I don’t really think my buddy’s $50,000 salary is gonna balance the budget.”

Congrats, MAGA… www.nytimes.com/2025/02/26/u...

BREAKING: Inches from complete disaster. What is happening at the FAA?

Complete batshit lunacy on the president's Truth Social account. Yes, he really posted this.

It is impossible for me to love this woman more than I do. She knows this is a gun fight, she's not bothering with polite, equivocal, useless knives.

the thing that tonight’s budget vote shows is that congressional Republicans are actually quite capable of inflicting massive pain on the average American through constitutionally appropriate processes and do not need to outsource it to the haphazard machinations of a ketamine-addled Boer

Cutting $880 billion from Medicaid is going to have a lot of devastating consequences for a lot of people

The obvious move here would be for Democrats to have townhalls in key Republican districts to call out these cowards running and hiding from DOGE cuts.

House Rs just passed the budget resolution, the first step in their process to enact a bill that'd kick millions off Medicaid & cut SNAP down to just $1.60 per person per meal on avg while cutting taxes for the top 0.1% by $278k - all while increasing the debt 🧵on what's to come and WHERE TO FIGHT

Extraordinary. And despicable that this is being done to him.

NEW: President Trump moved Tuesday to punish a law firm for providing pro bono legal services to Jack Smith as he prepared to face a potential investigation from the Trump administration. He is stripping security clearnces and govt funding from the firm. www.politico.com/news/2025/02...

Budzinski: "We saw just yesterday another round of layoffs at the VA -- 1,400 more people. When we're trying to address veterans suicide rates, when you're cutting jobs for folks that are actually answering those suicide hotlines, how is that in the service of our veterans?"

My racist HS physics teacher just put a photo of Snoop and Trump on his feed and my classmate posted a response that said "you wrote me up for listening to Snoop in your class in 1993 so fuck you and I think it's about time you know that your daughter stayed over at my house after prom"

"There's so much fraud, waste, and abuse." "Can you give us an example?" "Oh ho ... trust us, there's so much fraud, waste and abuse, you wouldn't believe it." "Try me! Just one." "Sorry, there's too much fraud, waste, and abuse. I can't pick out just one instance of fraud, waste, and abuse."

The wages of the WHCA’s public silence on the White House’s unlawful retaliation against the AP are even bolder encroachments against the free press’s prerogatives.

New in PN: How Trump's lawyers are trying to make him a king "In practical terms, if Trump gets SCOTUS to agree he has unfettered power to remove members of independent regulatory agencies, their independence is over. No more will they issue decisions that don’t reflect his policy preferences."

All the folks who exited NBC today. Seen together, hoo boy. Message received.

THERE IS NO AMERICAN CONSTITUENCY FOR AN ALLIANCE WITH RUSSIA. Even the GOP hates it. It’s just that Russia, for reasons we STILL do not know, owns Trump.

Worth pointing out again that both of these individuals presented themselves as enemies of "cancel culture" and defenders of "free speech" and that some people even took that seriously
