All of this -- feeling it hit, too

Reposting because this is going to be a long period of struggling. I’m sharing updates as blog posts. Any shares and donations are appreciated. Ko-Fi uses PayPal or Stripe, and charges the donor $0. My direct PayPal and Venmo are listed in the blogs. ko-fi.com/closethippie...

Every artist I know is really struggling right now. Financially, emotionally, their confidence, in general. If you like an artist's work, support them any way you can. Buying their stuff or subscribing to their Patreon is great, but words of encouragement are also incredibly helpful.

It's more important than ever

As a writer and editor, I have to disclaimer: If you see weird grammar, it's not because I'm awful, it's because I'm longwinded and have to cut down most of my posts to fit, and don't catch every tense change. Also, all my word gud goes elsewhere.

Stretch your wrists/arms/shoulders AND NECK before every writing session You don't want to end up with chronic pain or severe injuries that compromise your ability to write

Ok, friends. The tipping point has been reached. I'm publishing wide from now on, not just on Amazon, and I'll be looking to take Altar wide when I'm able.

I roped my wife into watching Wheel of Time with me as it comes out, and it's been a tradition. She's enjoys it, and humors my rants and raves. But this opening scene, she immediately went and rewatched and started texting me things she noticed and hopes/worries. Feels like we reached a new level!

Me, playing Skyrim. Bandits: *attack me unprovoked* Me: “EXCUSE ME DO YOU MIND I’M TRYING TO COLLECT THESE MUSHROOMS”

Can we at least admit now that putting businesses at the centre of everything and giving them more rights than human beings doesn't work? That techbros are not saviours, but villains who will happily burn the world down if they think they can wring any amount of profit out of it?

100% and I need everyone to understand right now that there is only one solution: people need to start getting their asses kicked in public again

I went to see a really good band tonight. Great musicians. Right up until they played Dixie for their closing number. "This one's for two of my great-great grandfathers." I walked out.

I do believe Luigi is innocent. His face shape doesn't match the photos (Yes, I know that's a "look" thing too but still.). People always say "What is this, North Korea?!" when real justice is perverted by outside backers. I wonder when are they going to start saying "What is this, America?!"

I was at a punk show in 83 where a skinhead jumped up on stage and gave a Nazi salute. The bass player hit him with his bass, knocking him into the crowd and 150 people collectively hauled his ass out of the venue and threw him in the mud. This was the right and only appropriate response.

pharazôn my guy…you’re next on his list 😘

I think Flexile Sentry is another weird boss that could be fun if they brought it back for Nightreign. It probably wouldn't an ideal candidate for an end of night boss, but as a miniboss, it'd have a fun interaction with the multiplayer angle in that it could attack players on either side of it.

Tomorrow in the NYT: I voted for Donald Trump because I hate the people he hates and wanted to see them suffer. Now that I am suffering, why can’t you find it in your heart to be sympathetic? RUDE

writing a romance called “Oh! Oh! Oh! Canada” where an American fake dates someone up north to escape *gestures at everything* and then they fall in love FOR REAL

I missed this one: CNN filed a FOIA request for some information about DOGE accessing records at the office of personnel management, and someone from OPM wrote back saying "Good luck with that, they just fired the whole privacy team." newrepublic.com/post/191663/...

I’m not trying to be a “but actually” guy, but a lot of you have short memories.

I think we're facung a sort of empathy epidemic/gap/deficit... in that we, as a society, don't have anywhere near enough. Biden, who literally helped fund/directly supported a genocide, was known for being "empathetic."

Pence and McConnell are two sides of the same coin. Sniveling, greedy, democracy-undermining bigots thriving on constituents' ignorance. McConnell will be remembered for devoting his life to killing this country. Pence will be remembered for a single essential time he did the right thing.

Americans didn't fight fascism in WW2 until WE were attacked Because Americans have no real idea what fascism is, the immense suffering fascism causes. The sheer brutality of fascism and communism has never been felt here If we don't fight back now we'll finally understand it Maybe we'll fight then

in elementary school, some bully hit me (she hit everyone) and i finally hit her back. i got in trouble because i should have “turned the other cheek.” that night, my mom got me ice cream and told me: “you’re allowed to fight back. sometimes that’s how we stop bad people from doing bad things.”

Fictional villains: my motivation involves a complex backstory around lost love and a deep yearning to be understood Real life villains: being cruel makes me feel like a big strong man

HAPPY PUBLICATION DAY GANG COME CHECK IT OUT

Apropos of nothing, a reminder that the French Olympics sent us a very subtle message about the divine right of kings.

In a month, the Trump administration has threatened, belittled, lied about, or angered a large number of his allies. Nearly all of whom are currently opposed to Russia in some way. He couldn’t be more of a Russian assset if he tried.

I'm excited. But then I'm up for devs I trust just making something WEIRD.

The moment I first touched Ico, it was a revelation. No other game felt like that, with such physicality to the movement. Any other dev that tried to make a game that felt like this would make it unbearable. I don't know how it works so well for Ico and SotC.

the moment you realize you need to rise up is also the moment you realize that the american life is built around preventing you from rising up. it's the tiny gaps of comfort between the long stretches of a constant struggle to live and make a living. capitalism squeezes you for more than just money

Realizing that copaganda worked was not as heartbreaking as learning the press was a corporation, and it adhered to the bottom line, aka money. I never fully believed cops were good guys. I met them and knew that was not the truth. But I believed in the righteousness of the press.

I had a friend who had enough broken down 360s to build a Frankenstein's monster 360 out of working parts.

Calling yourself a king doesn’t make you a king. Learning a series of bizarre lessons from a wizard and his owl familiar Archimedes while being a terrible page to a mediocre night until the day you pull a sword out of a stone does.

This would tie up so many plot threads into one bow. It's almost elegant. Then again, so would have been him dying of Covid or being offed by rightwing extremist violence, so yanno.

As something of a writer myself, this would be a perfectly pat ending to the ultimate hate watch.

our despair has been because the Republican party has been choking out the possibility of change our entire live, and our octogenarian legislators considered that to be our grandchildren's problem. but we do not need to be content with that.
