There were a lot of people who backed Cuomo because they wanted him to win, but there were also a whole lot of people who supported him because they were afraid of what would happen to them *if* he won and they didn’t support him. Going to be interesting to see how many more of these come out.

Do it. Make it a 1:1 race between corruption and the future.

Still no word from Mamdani on what he's going to do about all these cats in my apartment.

same same

making Fort Greene look like Fort Sumter

I cannot sufficiently put into words the histrionics that would commence if we had this very good policy.

Closing down the blocks in front of schools to cars is such a no-brainer on a policy level, but would likely trigger a community board thermonuclear war.

Brooklyn Democratic Party boss Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, a crucial Eric Adams supporter who notably chose to endorse Cuomo in the primary, now says she'll support Mamdani in the general.

Also: Mamdani could not have won without the alliances he built with Brad Lander and the other anti-Cuomo candidates, and it is an immense testament to him that he recognized that. Speaks very well of his ability to do the actual job if he gets through the general

One last thought - Zohran ran a very conventional campaign in a lot of ways. He had an incredible ground game and focused on basic cost of living issues while his opponent tried to beat him with culture war attacks about Gaza and Crime.

i would like it a lot of zohran did whatever it takes to keep lander involved with the campaign. ride a tandem bike with him in your ads man this is great stuff

After resigning in disgrace, Cuomo attacked the women he harassed with vexatious, punitive legal filings meant to bankrupt and humiliate them, and threatened to sue them for defamation. He wanted them to shut up. At great personal risk, they didn’t.

"GOOD FUCKING RIDDANCE"

- focused like a laser on cost of living issues - spoke with “problematic” podcasters - refused to language police when media elites asked him to It’s really funny that Mamdani ran the perfect centrist campaign as a Democratic Socialist

wowowowoowowowow Cuomo on Mamdani "he won"

Is Cuomo going to concede? This is as close to a Cuomo conceding live I think.

Brad Lander: "I also need to thank some of the most important people in my life and on this campaign—I mean, of course, the NYT editorial board. Just kidding, of course: I love Wordle and Connections, but I really urge the Times to cancel their new feature 'Editorial Riddles.' No one likes those."

The elite reaction to this is going to be apoplectic.

There going to be one billion hot takes, but there is one extremely tangible takeaway... when you run for public office you should campaign - not whatever it was Cuomo's campaign did

The coalition of, and I am not kidding, "Michael Bloomberg, DoorDash, Bill Ackman" is going to drop 300m on this race.

Turns out, you can in fact run a values forward, energizing Democratic campaign against a known corrupted, billionaire-backed sexual predator born into privilege. The trick is you have to actually have a concrete populist agenda.

May no one ever say this about me:

It’s election night AND we get to see Dicky Lovelady’s first game as a Met???

We've got the border under control. Great. So why do we now need an additional $150b for a huge increase in the federal workforce and facilities. Get that money to VA and elderly patients, don't spend on it on new layers of unneeded government bureaucrats!

“This is disgusting. It’s wrong. And I don’t want it being done in my name. You shouldn’t either…We have our own self-destructive ayatollahs (I’m looking at you, Stephen Miller), and they deserve to be stopped, before they tarnish our good name forever.” open.substack.com/pub/mattlaba...

lol a WHAT ABOUT YOUR GAFFES moment, but better thats the New York City Public School difference.

Rank me #1 on your ballot today. Let’s win a better future for the city that we love.

i watched the colbert interview with mamdani and lander and i don't think framing a question as it's been constructed by political actors and then giving the candidates 20 minutes of air time to demolish those accusations unchallenged is the same as asking the question to push the cynical narrative

The fifth set of Byrd droppings is out Dems win on the sale of public lands: Rs may not sell of our public lands! Other huge victories in this area around making oil and gas leasing, mining, pay-to-play for oil and gas exports, and NEPA compliance ENR and Senate Budget Dem staff crushed it

I don’t recommend the subway today unless your thing is sweat on top of sweat.

Excited for this game. Truly, the summer of gaming.

Look on the actually existing Democratic base, ye online, and despair!

Drat, skunked again!

Personally, I think we should take bets on how fast they put up bills to undo NYC's home rule and mayoral control of schools.

#BREAKING: Over a (sharp) public dissent from the three Democratic appointees, #SCOTUS clears the way for the Trump administration to remove migrants to third countries *without* giving them an additional opportunity to contest whether they face persecution or other forms of mistreatment there:

Zohran has entered Pizza Palace on Dyckman Ave, accompanied by drummers. Dozens of reporters are keeping tabs on the unfolding pizza situation.
