It was made with a level of competency that has fallen out of fashion in modern studio production. Also Clooney had one of the best takes on Wayne. His Batman less so.

in the US parasites get you a cabinet position

Yeah it’s a real “eh old chap we have a very large climate controlled room, wouldn’t it be capital to see which of us dies first?” But it was actually how we formally discovered that sweating was a form of thermoregulation. It’s a fun read: publicdomainreview.org/collection/e...

In his defense Herr Farenheit was not prepared intellectually or emotionally for the existence of the Manitoba province.

No real point other than I base shoveling choices on whether or not there’s snow, not the outside temp. Idk for me the C vs F thing has always only been of a fun intellectual argument, because at the end of the day it’s just a question of which arbitrary set of numbers to you prefer.

Fun fact: some weird 19th century British scientists did an informal study of human heat tolerance and found that in a suitably dry environment they can maintain homeostasis for a while in temperatures above 100 C

This is very niche but as someone who does a lot of winter camping the proximity in either direction to 0 F is actually very useful for how many layers to wear and how much exertion I can safely do.

Even a world where I didn’t know the freezing point of water I can tell you from experience that my thermometer has never been the thing that clues me into when I have to shovel the walk and driveway.

0 Fahrenheit at roughly the temperature in which the human body, with its higher saline content, can freeze solid. Fun fact: any meet sold in the US as frozen must be stored at 0 until it’s placed on store shelves. Which as facts go is really only helpful if you’re purchasing a whole turkey.

That it’s 32% warmer than the temperature where you body can be frozen solid and your sweat can freeze on contact with the air. Also the freezing point of water.

Yeah but I'm not water, and I don't need the temperature to tell me about the state of water. With farenheit we have: 0 - the human body freezes 100 - unsuitable to maintain homeostasis Then we have a linear and gradual scale that tells us where we are between frostbite and heat stroke.

The only thing I found carrying it was the ABC News channel which is mostly livestreams of whatever.

I briefly tuned to it out of curiosity and saw a bunch of troops marching in front of empty bleachers so I'd say they're struggling to hit Day In Our Village numbers.

For every stride scientifically the show loves to remind the audience that the politics of the time and the characters is still corrosive as hell.

They also nail that concept too. When the Tamarians are being emphatic with each other they use the full description, as the conversation becomes more heated the fall back on a commonly recognized shorthand.

“I didn’t know if I could keep watching the show after that episode” - writer partner’s husband The whole time there was a voice in the back of my head screaming “but he parked on set!”
