like, birds and fish have small eyes but their head shapes determine their field(s) of view! so i imagine the slight differences in human faces do the same, right?

i also don't actually know anything about this but my intuition says periphial vision would mostly be determined where and how your eyes rest on your face, things like eyes that sink into your face would surely make your periphial vision worse right??

I'm an annaki fanatic ! All of my in game currency for the first two years went towards leveling it up. But honestly - the biggest charm in for me comes from the design variety. There are pieces that get copied from runway fashion and there are umpire helmets and time-period pieces and its wild!

Ultimately, I think anyone who takes the first step in and sees the depth there will have an easy time looking past it, but the number of people willing to take that first step is definitely lower than I'd like it to be y'know??

For sure! I think especially what they do with fashion and branding is fun. On a personal level, the squidkid design was very easy to see past, but I do think its a barrier for enough people that it's important to recognize!

Ultimately, if Splatoon got a Rivals of Aether style love letter that solves either or both of the last two, I would switch over. Right now the community isn't big enough to split, but one day, I sincerely hope it happens. thats the whole thread thanks for reading love u bye

Ultimately, I think these three things are the biggest obstacles to the growth of competitive splatoon. As a player who plays almost exclusively for the love of the gameplay and mechanics. Its very frustrating.

3- The parent company: Nintendo. Nintendo generally pushes back against the type of grassroots organization that makes things happen while refusing to organize in a way that takes its games seriously competitively.

2- The netcode: Gamers who see past the aesthetic are often frustrated by the lack of modern netcode in Splatoon. As a beginner, it can be very frustrating to play. Even on a fiber, wired connection, your connection is still at the whim of everyone else. It's never the sme fair game (lans excluded).

1-General Optics: Splatoon is seen as a kid game, and the character design solidifies that to outsiders. Someone being introduced to splat sees bug-eyed betty-spaghetti kid mcs and is turned away. There's no changing this one, and that's ok. I love my little faggy smooth skinned character. its fine.
