(Post a gif of who you wanted to be as a kid.)

The Student Radical Artists will be hosting their DIY Oracle Deck workshop at 6pm in the library. "Become unmarketable. Make your own Orisha, Adinkra, Vodou and Conjure decks, blessed with the Spirit!" - VP Amani Harris-Ture "Don't none a y'all put no fairy dust on my books!" - Librarian Carter

When are the people who said nothing while student protestors were attacked for their free speech last year going to admit they made a catastrophic mistake? That would actually be useful. Weaken their rhetorical tools. Admit you made a huge fucking mistake

(Okay other #writers I been out of the submission game for a minute and need some clarification on something. Trying not to be That Guy here but seeing submission calls from small publishers that pay as little as $10, and still don't accept reprints. ELI5? I feel like for that little pay...)

The Advisory Council has voted on the matter of AI art on public altars, and decided that any art of divine/spiritual figures must be made by humans. Anyone caught in violation will be subject to one week of cleaning fairy dust from library books. We told y'all to stop making them books float!

(reposting cuz I want the reccs too but also, this is why I was adamant to include Muslim characters in my series. The idea that Black identity is inherently Christian is something I'm specifically challenging in all my work.)

(All my characters are nerds! Marquise and Jerome bond over anime. Marquise and Khadijah spend all their time together in the library, parallel reading. Renèe plays her older brother's handed down Gameboy SP nigh obsessively, and she and Jerome have a years long gaming rivalry.)

Who is your nerdiest character? #WritingCommunity

(Little bit of lore dumping: Renée and Jaime's mom doesn't trust any pharmaceuticals. Especially her mood stabilizers. She eventually found a blend of meditation, herbs, and isolation that helps. But she made mistakes along the way. And that's part of why Renée and Jaime can never leave the school)

(In hindsight, it's kinda weird how our teachers were just like "Hey, Hunger Games is popular and we're teaching it anyway, let's host our own Hunger Games with the students!") (And yeah I'm sure that not every school did that. But I also don't think my teachers were THAT creative lol)

Goddess Nyx Nebula—a celestial ring of fire & frost, where stardust swirls in silent symphony. Golden light dances on the edge of a cosmic maelstrom, while ethereal blue wisps whisper secrets of the universe. Amid the abyss, a thousand stars shimmer—solemn witnesses to the birth & death of galaxies.

Coyote vs. Acme is never gonna be released or leaked, so I'm gonna spoil a thing I read from the plot summary because it doesn't matter anymore: The reveal that Coyote only sued Acme in order to get the Road Runner on the witness stand so he could trap him is a brilliant twist.

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.

(The entire Yu-Gi-Oh anime is making your sons queer, not inclusive Sex Ed.)

(Saw it last night. It was pretty good. I had a few sincere laughs in the theater.)

Still applies, y'all!

(There are two types of blerds imo: The ones that will go into extreme detail explaining why the single Black character is the best one lorewise and thematically. And the ones that just say "I like him cuz he Black" and let that be the end of it. I am and prefer the latter 🤣)

(Gotta love how Mark walked away with the wrong lesson yet again. The problem wasn't that he kept stopping short of killing Conquest--though that was dumb--Conquest was just too strong and Mark had no hope of killing him til Eve blasted him.)

(One darling I refuse to kill is the bit of lore I added to a recent chapter, which explains that buses disappear when Negro Spirituals have use of them. I need that lore to cope with the fact that NORTA JUST SKIPPED MY FUCKING STOP AGAIN!)

✨A door opens...✨ Explore this premise in SFFH fiction in ENTER HERE: An Anthology of Portals. The kickstarter starts April 1 and submissions open June 1! Editors me and @mstevensonbooks.bsky.social, cover artist @aimeecozza.com www.kickstarter.com/projects/ent...

(I actually have a whole lore surrounding the Mami Wata in store for this story! The one in question goes on to be a sort of party girl serial killer. And that's all I'll say! There's a huge twist associated with her, and it's *not* that she's a serial killer!)

(White wands with silver chains wrapped around the handle, with a crucifix hanging from the end. Negro Spirituals don't tend to use wands, and these are instantly recognizable as too expensive for kids to have, so it instantly puts the main characters on alert.)

(I fully realize this! I'm damn near blind without my glasses. If they break or I lose them, I'm too scared to leave my house. I have to remind people all the time that these are my EYES!)

Daily Affirmation: The Spirit moves through me. I shall not fall for Nativist bullshit. I shall not fall for divisive rhetoric. We are a global people. The Negro Spirit knows no borders.

I heard the dean of a journalism school warn that “Nobody can protect you. These are dangerous times,” and he is right these are dangerous times, but his other point is quite wrong, for you and I are not nobody, so in these dangerous times we somebodies must protect each other.

a one page synopsis? you want me to write a one page synopsis of my book? you mean commit the deadliest of all the syns???

(All the Twilight Zone reboots are criminally underrated, especially this one!)
