It's pretty close to a common term in rocketry. "Rapid Unplanned Disassembly", or "RUD", is a common euphemism for "rocket go boom".

So, if people dying sooner than they otherwise would have is not important to her, why is she against murder? Or, for that matter, abortion?

Gotta say, I didn't think it would be possible to make it worse. [insert "I'm not even mad. I'm actually impressed" meme]

The Emoji Movie might be great and it might be terrible (I haven't seen it) but the cast listing from it is the gift that truly keeps on giving.

Commercial stuff tends toward faster making, which means a fast yeast that can't go that high with the ABV and leaves a little more sugar. But generally all scrumpies are less sweet than average hard ciders (which are usually meant to be sweet-ish)
comment in response to post
When I've made it myself I've tended toward a champagne yeast which can still be active up to about 12% ABV, which gives it a lovely tart-apple bite. But it takes over a month to ferment and it needs some aging, it comes out super hot (harsh alcohol bite) and needs a year or two to mellow out.
comment in response to post
The term comes from "scrumping" which is stealing withered groundfall apples from other people's property, so there may be a connection between withered apples and day old poo in the history of that nickname

Casual scrumpies are ideally served hot when it's very cold out. Like, take a thermos of hot cider and a flask of whisky on a winter hike. Cider, of course, optional but it does help you stay hydrated and it's very warming.

Hard cider that is made using a mix of different species of apples and usually fermented "dry" (most of the sugars are fermented out giving it a high ABV and a tart flavor with a significant alcoholic bite). Alternatively, a more casual scrumpy enjoyed around here is cider with cheap whisky added.

I love scrumpy and I think I need this bottle.

100% the definition of prosecutable porn will quickly change to "LGBTQ+ people merely existing" while actual porn will go unprosecuted except in cases where liberals are involved. Conservatives will be able to carry on with their child porn.

Damn it, The Onion, this one is too believable.

And, while I absolutely don't blame you and feel the same, that's why first run TV dies so much. "The first season is a ratings flop because people are waiting to become invested until they know whether there will be a second season, so we won't be greenlighting a second season"

There has always been an angry and vocal group of adults that hate anything kids enjoy. Letters to the editor in newspapers are the pre-Internet evidence of this. But I'll bet that there are cave paintings that really mean "damn kids and their trend of [some obscure point of spear making]"

If your audience is lactose-intolerant ophiophilists you are just making the narrative more relatable.

Protestantism is another set of former-Catholic branches of Christianity who parted ways largely over the RCC asserting too much central control from Rome, though the Protestant Reformation wasn't specifically about the Pope per se and more about [points generally to everything including the Pope]
comment in response to post
Being mad about who is the current Pope is a long-held Catholic tradition. And also the source of a whole bunch of branches of Catholicism that are not the RCC. Ultrecht Union, Old Catholic, Hussite Church, Liberal Catholics, Church of England, various branches of Sedevacantism... + many others.

There is no fucking way anyone with two brain cells to rub together is going to take advantage of this offer. Very good odds that the "free plane ticket" is to El Salvador and the $1000 is not going to happen, or will be confiscated immediately while you are being put in chains.

I hope so as well, but I also have to look at how close the election was and how useful RCV was to Golden winning it. I honestly fear that primarying Golden will just result in enough people from the heavily-MAGA district 2 picking LePage. Even with RCV, it's gonna be a butt-clencher next time.
comment in response to post
I guarantee you we would. LePage would be immensely worse in every way possible.

What, and I cannot stress this enough, the actual fuck, NBC? Sanewashing is nowhere near enough to describe this take. Fuck all the way off with this bullshit, then go somewhere else and fuck off from there, too.

I'm 6'3" 240 pounds (yes, I'm overweight, obese even) and I haven't got anywhere NEAR the "Dohang Syndrome" that Trump has. "Dohang Syndrome" is when your belly do hang over your belt buckle.

Never fear, Hegseth will figure out how to turn the dial to 11, even if it doesn't actually have an 11.

I'm sure he will console himself by dismantling the FDIC with extra vigor and enthusiasm, though.

Toxic empathy is real. If you empathize with the plight of someone else so strongly that you stop meeting your own needs, your empathy becomes toxic. You lose the ability to help them and yourself. But the term can be twisted to justify not being empathetic by describing all sacrifice as toxic.

Point taken, but can we still arrange it so he spends all his time cheating at golf? I'll chip in for some gaudy plastic "first place" medals.

Except that in the US economy, the guy actually does jump off the balcony and then has a mattress thrown in place at the last second and he does drink the bleach but has his stomach pumped after his digestive system suffers moderate-to-severe but not quite fatal (probably) damage.

Marijuana is legal here in Maine. Expensive, but maybe worth it occasionally as a treat. It does really well in baked goods, and in getting the consumer of said goods baked.

Wood? Why do you think they want to subsidize the petroleum industry to the tune of tens of billions each year? This is what the strategic reserve is for.

Given the way the news has been reporting things lately, I assume you mean "Democrats" and how this is somehow their fault in some way? (kidding. Partly)

Obviously a self-neuter of this breathtaking magnitude cannot be pinned on one person, but McConnell definitely provided the dull, rusty scalpel and encouraged the doctor to make the incision.
