don't worry...the next framework will explain it

Manager: "What's this milestone 'Living on a prayer' ?" Me: "That's the documentation deliverable." Manager: "What's the status of that?" Me: "We're halfway there" Manager: "Why is progress so slow?" Me: "You fired Tommy" Manager: "So?" Me: "Tommy used to work on the docs"

This is really well stated. Art is a thought process not a straight jump from “idea” to “outcome”. It means you can’t outsource the hard bits (for instance to some weird tech bro’s algorithm) without losing something crucial

Last summer, my blog setup annoyed me once too often and I decided to build something else from scratch. I think I did just enough to let out some annoyance and then forgot about it for 6 months. Taking another look today! Some notes at neil-vass-2.com

Worthy Read: How to Learn and Practice Product Management in a Feature Factory by John Cutler "It really is all about the reps, even if things are less than perfect." Want to grow your product management skills even in a feature factory?

Notes from last week's Deliver Sessions, starring Holly Donohue and @jitgos.bsky.social. 2 brilliant talks, with lots of "further reading/watching" links recommended by them. I press publish as soon as I finish writing posts, please wave if anyone spots a typo before I get back to proofread this...

If Substack is a no no, and Medium gets boos, and Wordpress is quite frankly a Frankenstein’s monster. Where too the good options now?

I meant to write a post about last week's Deliver Sessions meetup, but got distracted - I think the office we were hosted at is on the old Granada Studios site, but thought I should quickly check before mentioning that. 21 open tabs later...

Oh damn Prime actually published their failed chatgpt prompt in the description

A few weeks ago I was in Liverpool for Agile in the Ether's second-ever In Real Life event. A fab day of learning, with interactive sessions from lots of community members. I've made some notes about what I learned and what I want to do more with. neil-vass.com/agile-in-the...

Agile Manchester Call for Sessions is open until 10th Feb: agilemanchester.net/call-for-ses...

2 weeks until the next Deliver Sessions meetup in Manchester - this is a popular one, register if you'd like a spot :) These are some great topics for anyone who works in on near any software teams, whatever your role.

Would you be interested in a talk about jargon, and: - why it’s is bad - how to avoid it - what to do when you can’t avoid it - when (and why) jargon is good (because I contain multitudes) Considering writing it for my next conference, but if the very thought sends you into a coma I’ll rethink

#Weeknotes 443, featuring differential diagnosis, theory of constraints workshop, decarbonising user journeys, what makes a good team, taking a platform approach, adjacent possible and path dependency. rogerswannell.com/weeknotes/we...

I thought the final boss of software testing was the organization structure, aka: management. We can go one level deeper, to the secret fifth level! Once you know, it cannot be unseen. #blog #IT #software #testing www.maaikebrinkhof.nl/the-secret-f...

This week's Posts From Awesome Folks is here hellotacit.beehiiv.com/p/posts-from... - enjoy

Another of my "I'm not sure anyone cares but me" blog posts :) Here, you can learn what dynamic programming is, how memoization can be used in it, how to implement that in TypeScript, and how you can make your own @decorators to make it look pretty* Is any of that interesting? Confusing? Boring?

I'm occasionally, slowly, doing puzzles from old #AdventOfCode years - one day I'll collect the full set! Everyone needs a hobby, right? Just collected the 50th star for the 2016 puzzles, I'm very pleased :) github.com/neil-vass/ad...

I love the variety of Old Man Yells At… reactions available in our Slack workspace. Is it a good sign when you've reached this level? #popculture #slack #grampasimpson
