We are with you. Powerful words and stories you’ve shared this day.

Thank you for the reminder. I mark my calendar with any progress made, even if just a voice note going over a world building item or plot dynamics but that word haunts me if I don’t hit it.

Most of them don’t understand the basics of technology. They’ll migrate here in time.

Palisades before and after. From ABC’s website.

I had three characters I loved individually but the story seemed to halt while weaving their plot threads. Combined them into a single character who now feels alive and vibrant! Several plot progressions opened up immediately from the exercise.

Yes! The rationale is fewer characters create deeper connection and familiarity between the reader and the MCs as opposed to many superficially understood characters.
Combine when able.

Jiu Jitsu class was great this week. Learned several transitions from traditional arm bar that are NASTY. Rolled with some new people and got a couple nice throws mixed in. Progress is certainly felt each week. #smallvictories

I wrote a short story recently about forgotten promises, deadlines, and goals. An important anchor for the plot is a calendar beside the MC desk.
So I’m borrowing that as a way to hold myself accountable. Every day, marking the calendar with the day’s fulfillment to self.

I’m working on a dystopian SciFi project where humanity built a paradise through oppression. Seen through the eyes of a recently elevated warrior-type charged with enforcing the law who begins to see through the veil. Cue chaos. Brutal physically and emotionally.

I make sure to get a dedicated 30 minute block every day no matter what. Then I try to get a dedicated hour or more on each day I’m off from work/school to review the .tknotes and add more vibrance to the rough.

It’s great for habit formation and the mental cue to produce written words. Whether I get a lot or a little done, my ass stays on the seat and the keyboard right under my fingers.

Butt in seat, hands on keyboard. Writing Excuses podcast talks about this often. I usually set a timer, put everything on DND and (literally) throw my phone across the room. Then I force myself to be 100% focused on the words until the timer goes off.
