Gen-X spinster, currently dogless in PDX. Nerderies include: cheese, cooking, sci-fi, fantasy, books, cello, chorus. Probably leftish? Definitely antifa. Was Princess Ardala on the bird app. She/her.

Man, if you have one of those things with the brightly colored blocks threaded through loopy wires, or the Fisher Price Little People garage with the spiral slide, I am THERE.

This is my first house so it's the first time I've dealt with plants & gardening & whatnot & I am trying SO HARD to get over my arachnophobia. I won't tolerate bugs in my house, but I try to leave them be outside even when I almost inhale a whole spiderweb when taking a big sniff of one of my roses.

“The Economy” has always meant what rich assholes want it to. Since Reagan it’ been used to threaten the rest of us. Has nothing to do with whether I can afford rent or medical care or eggs. Somehow always improves under a Dem who they oppose. I don’t give a good goddamn about this “economy”.

I play the cello & sing. Not at the same time. So while I would consider myself a valuable asset to a commune, it seems like this is exactly the kind of place where making music isn't reserved for only one person. Like if you hippies need shanties you're all going to need to pitch in.

Anything that’s not a show tune because while there are tons of pop & rock songs I want to sing, everything that comes out of my face sounds like a show tune. Alas.

I’ve chatted with a number of acquaintances who grouse a lot about it, but not in the same ways that fox news poisoned midwesterners bitch. I think those of us who like it here are much more enthusiastic, but it’s still weird to hear outright negativity rather than neutrality.

It's also weird to me because I've lived in several cities in my adult life & Portlanders in general seem to dislike their city more than people in other cities? I've also met more people who've never lived outside of their birth state than anywhere else, so maybe those folks just need perspective.

Honestly, there's something inherently sinister about a political candidate who thinks the place he wants to represent is garbage. I ranked Wilson pretty high despite his lack of experience BECAUSE he was the only one who seemed to actually LIKE Portland & wanted to improve it.

The Forehead L is like eschewing the more colorful swears and instead calling someone the naughtiest word you could say at South Kearns (Utah) Elementary in 1982 - Butthole.

I took a couple hours off work for “turtle repatriation”. The ODFW person confirmed she was gravid & then took her to the back for what I’m sure was a spa day. Happy ending - a pic of the Western Pond Turtle whose continued existence is due in part to my generous removal of 1 gravid invasive turtle

Savvy readers will have noticed both the turtle’s species & my confident gendering, so this story has a bittersweet ending. OFDW were excited to get my call & asked for description, pics & measurements before they asked us to bring her in. You see the Red-eared slider is invasive in this area…

She kept circling the front yard and stopping by my door. She would “run” when I tried to pick her up though. Luckily I am still faster than a turtle so I was able to relocate her to the backyard & gave her some water while I called the ODFW to figure out what to do.

This is my rule too! Adding Adam Driver - phenomenal actor whose work I will watch when a similarly “quirky” looking talented woman gets as much hype & good roles.

I have a real moral problem with running the AC in the same week I run the heat. I'm holding out right now, but if I don't put the heat back on, I'm going to have to deploy the bed-size electric footwarmer that never made it into the garage for winter storage.

That person is the reason the internets are so clogged up with "The End Of Anodyne Children's Movie EXPLAINED" videos. And even if they truly didn't understand your 2 posts in that order, why not do what the rest of us do & wait for context rather than embarrass yourself?

You joke but my work once outsourced a v. important dept to a Company called Algo. Implied it was an Algorithm & that we could all be replaced. Turns out it was just remote temps in a state with fewer employee protections. Division is no more, SVP now working for Algo.

Everyone is wrong. The superior version is the one released in the 90’s that cleaned up the matte lines & otherwise spiffed up the sound & the print. No rubbery vintage CGI creatures, redundant cutscenes or narrative altering blaster, uh, blasts. I’d pay $100 for that on every iteration of media.

Yep. Messed up my whole relationship with exercise & physical fitness because of it. Did really well in music classes, always wondered how the jocks would feel if they were forced to take band, orch, or choir & then just harangued & abused when they were as crappy as I was at team sports.

I have an InstantPot and Instant Pot brand air fryer from several years ago that will not be replaced with the same brand when the time comes. This is a blatant lick of the boot. It’s not like he’s associated with cooking ffs.

My sis had a convo w/my maga aunt where aunt had this hypothetical situation involving trans folks, gyms, etc & at some point sis wondered if she was actually describing a strip club or scenario in a letter from penthouse. Just unhinged behavior all around.

I'm GenX and always wondering why every cover band's rep stops at my dad's music, even when all the musicians are my age and younger. 90's & '00's would be a gift, but I'd appreciate it if they'd also throw in some fun 80's stuff too.

I got my dad a gift membership, & I can recommend this as well! It's very clear who is getting the physical newspaper, & both of us received a confirmation so I know he got the message. The check-out screens are also entertaining as hell.

My family (immediate & extended on my dad's side) are all very politically similar. However, my parents are Mormons & don't always take kindly to swearing or hearing their adult children speak of things of an adult nature. My FB is privacy locked under an assumed name they pretend not to know.

I went ultra-low carb with a data-driven eating disorder lite when I got my 'beetus dx & while I lost weight my A1C remained stubborn. The main side-effect was that I was a raging bitch for 6 months, because I guess happiness is located in the carbohydrate.

My MAGA aunt is in Marengo to visit my mom & dad is arguing w/her that Chicago is fine - that’s where his Dr is & he would know if it was a hellscape. 8 yrs ago he tried to explain that Defund the Police was a good idea. I say drop her off at the Art Institute & let her stroke out from the chaos.

What’s the end game here? This is horrific for every legal, human, & humanitarian reason, but beyond that, this is bad for the gestapo because who do they think is going to feed & clean up after them? Hope they enjoy sleeping in their own filth & eating someone else’s spit (if they’re lucky)

I don't understand this obsession with me hearing opposing opinions. I've heard them all before & I don't care. 2nd off, I come to social media to post my stupid thoughts & share dumb memes, & to see the stupid thoughts & dumb memes of my friends & family. Not for DEBATE ME corner.
