Top three female vocalists- Connie Mitchell: Sneaky Sound System, Harriet Wheeler: The Sundays and Jonatha Brooke: being Jonatha Brooke I once drunkenly forced Mrs Spike to listen to The Sundays’ “Skin And Bones”, insisting it was one of the most acutely flawless vocal performances in music history

I say this just as a point of interest and not some sort of irony-laden hipsteresque statement of forced yet phoney coolness, but I haven’t seen any of the films that won oscsars last night. I didn’t even watch the ceremony. I am now available as a guest on your podcast.

Had the misfortune to hear “Your Hips Don’t Lie” this morning. Its extensive sampling of the “Antiques Roadshow” theme tune is baffling.

Confession: I literally got up and walked away from a 30+ year fandom at the song and dance routines.

Scotland has 16 professional football leagues and none of them feature fish as players. That's because there are 20,000 leagues under the sea.

DID! YOU! KNOW! That there are two country singer/songwriters who share a name: Emmylou Harris, and Daytime Emmylou Harris.

Messi is eloquent, intelligent, and measured in this interview I’m watching on the MLS app. Zane Lowe gives him space to breathe and to answer, which is essential in any good interview. I *suck* at interviewing. Like, just horrible. But I know a good one when I see one.

I was delighted to discover that one of the sung jingles my radio station uses is actually “it’s out to-day….. the new Radio Times!” I smile every time it plays.

Is this the band? I’ve seen better bands on a cigar.

Saw it written and I saw it say Pink spoon is on its way And none of you stand so tall Pink spoon gonna get ye all And it’s a pink spoon Hey it's a pink spoon......

Having a great time (despite my face) broadcasting live at the Fairmont State University day of giving. Also. Ecstatic that my note cards look like I’m hosting a tv quiz show! Can I have a P, please, Bob?

One of the most 80s things I ever did was to record an Erasure concert off the telly and onto a C-60 cassette in a boom box, using a 5-pin DIN cable. What's the most 80s thing YOU can remember doing?

Does Spotify have “The Ballad of Chapped Lips Calquhoun” by Sideways Hank O’Malley And The Alabama Bottle Boys? I bet it doesn’t.

A night where we celebrate the original Blonde Bombshell and watch all her films. Call it Harlowe’en.

Don’t doubt me for a second when I say this: I take being this guy’s human VERY seriously.

Another night alone, watching videos of affluent white men taking electronics apart on YouTube. Lemme hear you say HEYYYY-O!!

I don’t watch MSNBC, but it seems that - and correct me if i’m incorrect - Joe “Kissed The Ring” Scarborough still has a full research and production staff on his show where other, more critical shows, have been decimated. Did I miss the story about him?

Lovely comment from a listener today: “Sometimes you just have to have fun. Spend money on memories not bills. I know this isn't the best advice for being an adult but I can tell you that I remember that trip to Disney but I couldn't tell you what bill was late because of it.” Thoughts?

I’ve been browsing Amazon and pricing microphone stands. Beat THAT for exciting, James Bond.

It’s at times like these when I’m reminded of the beautiful words of the famous Scotch poet Robert Burns: Ah’m goannie tell ye hoo it’s goannie be Wi’ Scotch’s lifetime guarantee Tape whit ye want, baith nicht an’ day An’ re-record, no fade awa’. Re-record, no fade awa’. Re-record, no fade awa’.

Watching “Elevation” and trying SO HARD not to sing. 🎶 Elevation, oohh Elevation. Elevation, that’s what you need. If you go below the line Oohh you’ll have a crappy time Oohh-Oohh, Elevation’s what you need! 🎶

Genuinely surprised that there's not a trace of "Morris Minor's Marvellous Motors" on YouTube. I suspect it wasn't nearly as bad as we gave it credit for at the time, and we all gave it quite the kicking. A meringue?

NP: The Beach Boys, Kokomo. I have a scenario in my head where the Beach Boys finish recording Kokomo, and then sit back in their studio chairs and light a triumphant cigar. Eventually, someone says, "finally.... FINALLY... we've managed to eclipse Pet Sounds."

Circular thinking: The 1959 movie "Operation Petticoat" featuring Tony Curtis made me think of "The Persuaders" which has an amazing theme tune and sounds a lot like Portishead, who I love and who come from Bristol, just like Cary Grant who stars in...... "Operation Petticoat".

Who could forget the Scottish Doors and their excellent songs: Brechin Through To The Other Side Peebles Are Strange Light My Fife E.K. Woman Hello, I Love Uist Easterhouse Blues …..and many more! (Probably)

IT'S CORBLIMEYING TIME!

Regardless of use, and god knows I’m no font expert, but to me, this will forever be a Big Breakfast “2”.

The best part of “Take On Me” is when Morten goes ‘in a DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE’ and I will not be convinced otherwise.
