Nothing is simple when you’re autistic, is it… Even when getting support 😅 Hope they’re helpful despite the stress though ❤️

If you’re still carrying pain from how you were treated - for being different, for being autistic or ADHD - you’re not alone Your feelings are valid Your past matters Healing isn’t about “getting over it” It’s about being allowed to feel, and finding safe places to be your full, authentic self

Yeah, I never thought it could get this bad until it actually happened tbh. I went from having a career, lots of friends, and going out every day to being mostly bedbound and struggling to even see my partner once a week… But thank you ❤️ I hope that I can have a better quality of life again one day

still hard though, of course. But at least I’ve been able to say that the intention/ desire is there despite the limitations
comment in response to post
Sorry you’re going through this too 😔 I wonder if letting them know that you have health/ disability stuff going on would help, so they realise you want to be part of the community but just can’t be as active as others. I do that occasionally and some have been very receptive ❤️ It’s

You look beautiful! 😊

It all sounds very promising 😄

Aww, that’s a lovely way for it to go! 😊 I haven’t been able to message most of my close friends even once a year anymore but I would definitely like to try rekindle some of those friendships if I ever manage to get out of this burnout (6 years and counting…) ❤️

Aww, I’m sorry you’re having a rough time too. Really hope things pick up for you soon ❤️

Thank you… How are things with you? 😊

Hurrah! 😊

Aww hi! 😊 I finally have codeine & anti-nausea meds but the side-effects are substantial 😕 Still pretty ill and will be for a while. Birthday was on Monday but all celebrations cancelled as in pain plus I can’t eat much besides plain rice etc 😅 So, thank you for making me smile with this message ❤️

I definitely understand how it can feel shameful… and also hard to even explain sometimes (or, for others to understand). You’re far from the only one out there who has this experience ❤️

I’m sorry 😔 It really can be such a lonely place

When you’re struggling to just survive and/ or dealing with all the other conditions often associated with autism (insomnia, migraines, IBS, ADHD etc), making and maintaining friendships can fall by the wayside There are many that I was forced to let go of over the years that I still mourn 💔

This is so true. We hear this time and again in every corner of our lives, from family to work to the media to public services… Being in a minority is often just continually fighting to be seen, heard and treated as a “valid” human being
comment in response to post
Yeah, exactly. I really thought this article would be an affirming one when it comes to the higher rates of diagnosis that we are now seeing & why that’s important & life-changing for many, but a lot of it is about the problems (again). So much misunderstanding, with very real consequences for us

Uwefest would be a lot of fun! Guy’s a legend ✨

Always appreciative of your allyship, Aslynn! 😊 Thanks for thinking of us… With everyone that’s going on in America and rippling across the world, that support means a lot xxx

Bedtime is when a lot of my anxious thoughts won’t stop because it’s harder to distract/ busy myself
comment in response to post
This can be related to autism too - sleeping too much or too little

And me!

Where do you get this program? I need a copy!

Yeah, textures can be such a problem! I really struggle too when something isn’t the way it’s supposed to be. It’s hard to explain but certain things that are crunchy just make me really anxious and uncomfortable 😅

Sounds like it has a big impact on your life too ❤️ It really can be so limiting and take up a lot of time and energy to navigate as well. It wish it didn’t affect us in all these ways

Welcome back! (Again ❤️). Just noticed the snazzy new profile pic too 😄

This can be deeply disabling and lead to: - anxiety around food - difficulties socialising (social events often involve food) - health issues, physical and nutritional - shame, guilt and bullying It’s not about being picky. It’s about trying to survive when your senses are turned up too high

Also, in case you missed it, this dropped a few days ago! 😁 m.youtube.com/watch?v=2Gv0...

Hades is incredible. I don’t generally go for roguelites but it had me playing for many hours. The art, lore, music, combat… Loved it all!

Thanks, unfortunately no unprescribed painkillers are helping so I think I need to go back to the doctors again (they wouldn’t give them to me yet on Thursday). It’s so horrible when work stress seeps into other parts of your life too 😢
comment in response to post
Well this is a grim night 😔 I’m not sleeping well either (stupid pain). Hope you can get some more zzz’s soon

100% ❤️

I’m sorry they treated you like that. Sounds awful. We need so much more awareness and understanding still 💔 And even without autism realisation, kindness shouldn’t be a big ask

This is a relief ❤️ Glad he’s back home and hope you can have a bit of a rest now despite the chores. Take care xxx

learning more about it is useful 🙂

It can be quite a journey figuring yourself out and understanding more about how your brain works or what you need, especially as everyone is different and there is a lot of diversity even within autism. It sounds like there are certainly parts of the autistic experience you can relate to. I hope
comment in response to post
You certainly have the strength to make it through! And it’s great that you are doing what you can when it comes to self-care 😊
comment in response to post
Aww 💔 Sadly a very common experience for autistic people (myself included). Back when I was growing up, people weren’t really aware of autism or what it actually was/ meant so I was often seen as picky, weird, difficult and too sensitive. I was rude for having autistic needs and not fitting in
comment in response to post
That sounds exhausting 😔 And yet, because of the society we live in, it’s often worse if we DON’T do that. I hope you manage to do what’s best for your health and wellbeing but it’s tough when you also need a job to put food on the table ❤️
comment in response to post
Yeah, I have a lot of issues with food too because of my autistic sensitivities and it can be very anxiety-provoking eating around people (especially if I don’t know them well)
comment in response to post
Yeah, I think I have very mixed feelings about it for exactly those reasons! It’s like I both do & don’t understand why people do it but that doesn’t mean I fully agree with it🤣 All I can say with 100% certainty is that if I ask, I genuinely care/ would like to know! And I wish others were the same😅
