It will use a little more power when it's off than it usually does but not much more. Basically it just allows the wifi to stay on and connected to the network to receive commands form the app or voice assistants.

this won't help with your current predicament and maybe not at all depending on your TV. Both my Roku and my Vizio TVs have a setting I had to change to get them to turn on with the app when they are off. It was called something like fast start or quick start. In with the power settings.

yeah I didn't think of that. Not a great name. They've been talking about for a long time and it's named after Lake Superior so not their intention but it wouldn't be a good look. Especially for a place that in not very diverse.
