It’s one of the books on the reading list for that age group, but it’s up to individual teachers which books to assign. (And depending on what classroom sets the school has) I did not have to read it, but we got “Bless me Ultima” “The scarlet Letter” “On Walden Pond” And a bunch of Shakespeare.
