Learn about the work this new Center will do based on empirical research using the @ucsflibrary.bsky.social industry documents. This archive now includes >21 million previously secret internal documents from the #fossilfuel, #tobacco, #ultraprocessedfood, #pharmaceutical and #chemical industries.

Learn the latest science and keep up with work to combat the leading vector of disease this century. Based on the excellent papers in the UCSF @ucsf-industrydocs.bsky.social

I have learned so much from @traceywoodruff.bsky.social @nickchartres.bsky.social and my fellow co-authors on this paper. For more on how the framework can improve scientific analyses and toxic chemical regulations: prheucsf.blog/2025/02/27/s... Paper is here: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...

👇Once established that a #chemical harms human #health the 1st step in using our framework designed for regulatory agencies, like U.S EPA is to determine if it is 'essential' - if not, then prohibit its use immediately.

Great article on the launch of our new Center to End Corporate Harm at @ucsf-prhe.bsky.social by @lizagross.bsky.social Through empirical investigations, our work will aim to prevent the leading risk factor for death and disease globally. bit.ly/434MfqU

If this administration cares about the harms of #PFAS #chemicals, then they must address the root cause of their widespread harm... #corporate funded science and #suppression of unfavorable science. Read the 👇to understand the strategies used across industries pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...

Excellent piece in The Hill on the extraordinary health costs associated with #ultraprocessedfoods in the U.S, and why limiting their availability is critical for the health of populations and economies worldwide. thehill.com/opinion/heal...

I recommended to the Australian Government Senate Select Committee on #PFAS 'forever' chemicals yesterday that they must follow the EUs proposal to ban PFAS (~14,000 variants) as a class. It is the only way we can protect ourselves & future generations from the harms of these #chemicals.

Today we launched The Center to End Corporate Harm, which will illuminate and counteract corporate influence on #science, the regulatory & #policy process leading to improved #health & health equity. Read about the strategic aims of the Center in the blog 👇

"Industry-funded research and exaggerated claims litter the arguments made by the fluoropolymer industry against stricter regulation" www.theguardian.com/environment/...

👇 Library contains >21 million documents (including #pharmaceutical, #Ultraprocessedfood, #chemical & #tobacco) & have been instrumental in holding health harming #corporations to account by providing an unprecedented opportunity to investigate & identify common strategies used across corporations.

@washingtonpost.com, @shannonosaka.bsky.social discusses our world first rapid systematic review on the health harms of #microplastics published today. @shannonosaka.bsky.social bit.ly/41HAypI

Our world first systematic review of the health harms of #microplastics was published today. We concluded that microplastics are “suspected” to harm human #reproductive, #digestive, and #respiratory health, with a suggested link to colon and lung #cancer. www.thenewlede.org/2024/12/bewa...

I highly recommend attending this webinar next week co-sponsored by @ucsf-prhe.bsky.social, Collaborative for Health & Environment & @earthjustice.bsky.social I'll be discussing key methodological flaws of U.S. EPA #chemical risk evaluations, and what it means for #publichealth

Water utilities in Brisbane suppressed data on #PFAS levels ~x 9 ^ than thresholds in the U.S. I explained to @brisbanetimes.bsky.social “Suppressing information like this when it has been explicitly requested sets a concerning precedent and will erode the public’s trust, unnecessarily."

We love this creative approach to sharing tips to avoid #PFAS exposure. Our suggestion is for EPA to regulate PFAS as a class of chemicals, rather than one at a time. publichealthinsider.com/2024/11/26/w...

Great piece on effective #science translation & communication. Understanding the concerns and needs of the public and then delivering your message with empathy is critical to getting cut through in an already cluttered world of #misinformation. www.medpagetoday.com/opinion/seco...

Please join my talk tomorrow, 26/11 at 12pm AEST 'Using Internal Industry Documents to Address the 21st Century Vector of Disease; Corporate Influence (#chemicals, #tobacco, #UPFs) on Science, Health & Democracy' at The University of Sydney. uni-sydney.zoom.us/j/89245914291 Meeting ID: 892 4591 4291

I explain that of most concern about the mix of #pesticides found in air samples near a school is that regulatory agencies don't account for and quantify the cumulative health harms these #chemicals cause. They are tested one at a time, not accounting for real world exposures. bit.ly/4hUe9uU
