i think genre is valuable but only as adjectives and not nouns. the noun falsely presumes a fluid and multiple affect can be congealed and calcified into a monolith with a single, clear meaning where the adjective uses the genre as a shortcut, allowing for more capacious resonance.

when was the list from? i track the tp boom back to ~2008 when people were tape trading and cbs had it streaming for free because companies hadn't figured out paywalled and ad monetized streaming yet. friends were doing tp viewing nights and shit. i bet it goes back earlier though.
