It's a national decision. I honestly don't believe fracking will ever happen in the UK. When Labour won the general election they promised to simplify planning laws so important national infrastructure projects could not be blocked by purely local intetests. Eg electricity grid wind farms HS2 etc

Why is Reform always negative, obstructing, criticising? If Lincolnshire is to have no green energy, will they try to introduce fracking to provide a local energy source?

Recent UK leaders still mistakenly view the country as a major world power rather than an equal "partner" in a coalition of nations ...

In all societies, most of the population are not aware of anything beyond their immediate friends and family. For national (tribal) pride they are largely dependent on the views of their leaders.

Is there some reason why our supposedly impartial national broadcaster is consitently incapable of achieving balanced coverage on Brexit? Eg: pure incompetence or perhaps government influence over their editors / producers?

It's just a political initiative, designed to boost the UK economy. I would be much more worried if HMG tried to be prescriptive on the application of AI. 30 years ago I was at the very forefront of EU research on broadband, and no-one foresaw what would ultimately make this a commercial success.

By analogy, I'd love to know the equivalent numbers for sovereign states and their national debt levels per capita. Is the world ready to be governed by major international corporations and billionaires?

Billionaires "hoard their riches" rather than reinvesting it for the public good? Governments' amass trillions in debt and spend their way out of bankruptcy by relying on price inflation to balance their books? The right/wrong distinction of this must surely boil down to whom you can trust more...

Just so long as this platform doesn't become a total echo chamber. We still need to appreciate and learn from others' dissenting views ... through polite conversation of course!

Its not so much the isolation. We Brits need to feel just how dependent on other nations we are. Food, security, raw materials.... there is a very long list...

Compared to most of Europe? I dont think cloud is an issue. And people could surely install stand-alone circuits just for their heavy consumption items like EV chargers, washing machines and dishwashers etc to minimise their consumption from the power companies?

But surely people could go off grid completely? There's so much sun, that even a reasonably sized battery would be enough to run the airco all through the night...
