All the people that the culture told us were important and to be respected: University chancellors, Wall Street bankers, Republican, politicians, Democratic politicians NY Times reporters, turn out to be arrogant cowardly fools living in a fantasy and unwilling to defend their own values.

It’s still hard to believe the simple fact that this is all self-imposed. Everything that’s happening right now wasn’t the result of some foreign adversary destroying the country. We did this all to ourselves by electing the dumbest motherfucker to ever rule a nation.

One way to think of what’s going on is that Trump & his gang are trust fund kids spending down the reservoir of U.S. power & influence without understanding or caring where the balance in that account came from. They treat it as just a fact of nature that there will always plenty there.

Every so often, it just comes back to me in full force. The political and economic order that allowed this man to come to power is obviously no longer tenable. The leaders who let it happen obviously have to be replaced. This is an epoch defining failure and we have to turn the page completely.

Feeling very good about my alma mater today www.dailyprincetonian.com/article/2025...

Another great day for Richie Torres and John Fetterman

The stark contrast between the formidable resolve of grassroots protesters, Town Hall participants, #TakedownTesla activists, and others protesting the serious threats to our democracy, and the spinelessness of our leading institutions civil society in education, law, and elsewhere is remarkable.

Conservatism succumbed to fascism as easily and rapidly as conservatives long (and inaccurately) warned liberalism would succumb to communism.

the complete collapse of conservatism as an ideological formation in the west feels like it should probably be more remarked on.

I've resigned from the jury for the duPont-Columbia Journalism Awards in response to Columbia's capitulation to Trump. www.poynter.org/commentary/2...

Before you read whatever The News says tomorrow just remember Israeli forces had already killed at least 150 people in Gaza since the “ceasefire”

Today, mothers and fathers in Gaza are mourning their children because governments across the world did not deem their lives worthy of protection.

In this interview Schumer says he agrees with Trump’s decision to pull $400 million from Columbia. A university in his own state. And he’s unconcerned about the unlawful arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, one of his constituents. He is a traitor who needs to resign.

Bernie is far from perfect, but man, what a missed opportunity apnews.com/article/bern...

The NIH .... I would not say I took it for granted, but I never thought it would disappear. The NIH was created in 1887 as a one-room laboratory on Staten Island, NY, and officially designated by Congress in 1930 So that means over 138 years, we, the American people and American scientists, (con't)

This ever-expanding campaign of slander, banning, defunding, and firing - perpetrated enthusiastically by Republican and Democratic leadership and way too much of institutional American Judaism - is straight-up McCarthyism, but for the benefit of a whole other country.

Sympathies towards Israelis regarding the "Middle East situation" has hit "the lowest in 25 years of Gallup’s annual tracking." Support for Israel amongst Democrats has tanked, drastically. 59% of Democrats sympathize more with Palestinians than Israelis in the "conflict."

How many Palestinian “prisoners” of Israel can tell the same story? But why should they be of interest to the New York Times?

Spine chilling stuff here

friendly reminder that the best case scenario over the coming years is that a lot of people say "I supported Trump but this isn't what I wanted at all" and when they do that it's gonna be really, really important that we say "welcome in," not "fuck you, we told you so"

An important thing to remember, folks, is that when crime goes up, it’s attributable to a reform DA, and when crime goes down, it’s God’s ineffable will.

It's always interesting when people come to conclusions "all by themselves" - with almost zero prompting from mainstream outlets/politicians/opinion leaders. (Graph from @leftiestats.bsky.social )

Probably the biggest impediment to the long term fight against fascism in America is that it would first involve wresting control of the Democratic Party from many of the worst people in the world.

You know, kinda interesting that even though Democrats lost after letting Wall Street, immigration & war hawks, and Republicans shape the campaign, all those "allies" still won by helping craft a bipartisan consensus around their interests & electing a man who will advance them
