Often tasked with teaching/training someone to do a job I was told I was unqualified to do. Their experience and skills were less than mine, but they didn't look like me. I hope that the ppl recognize that their bias impacted a lot of ppl and find a way to teach the younger ppl how to do better.

I blame myself but I understand the fear I felt. The worry that I would upset someone who could impact my career in my industry by appearing too arrogant or be branded as someone untrustworthy or a wild card. Therefore unemployable. While I watched ppl less capable than me get opportunities.

I had to discuss this with my husband because I was so upset/hurt/angry/sad that this is where we are. I reviewed my work history & grieved because I realized how much I held myself back because I never took a chance on jobs that may have been just beyond my experience but within my abilities.

Whenever I hear a dude complain about not getting something due to affirmative action, I always ask them "Have you tried waking up earlier and working harder?" I've published seven books but yeah I only made full professor because they lowered the bar. Right . . .

I’m continually frustrated by people who don’t understand that it has never been a “meritocracy”
