I think you are the regular type of wrong. It's still ok to think that way, I just disagree with that notion. I believe engaging with them to keep them from spreading their ideology is good.

I don't see why, genuinely. It's not like Adam boosted his show.

Going on Tim Pool and pushing back against him is good. We need to beat right wingers in every front possible.

I think also it's related to the fact that climate change will affect them the least.

That's probably more expensive than using other carriers like H2 or even Iron/Aluminum, depending on the situation.

Batteries are too heavy no? You couldn't transport batteries from off-shore facilities to main land.

I guess this is more of a case-by-case stuff. The cost of extending the electrical grid to off-shore facilities would probably be unfeasible in many cases. I have seen groups work on alternative solutions using iron as energy carriers though. We'll see.

Honestly I'm not advocating for hydrogen in transportation. I'm saying that EVs are also not good, especially for heavy duty work.

I asked specifically about the situation where you have off-shore Wind or PVs in the desert, so batteries are not feasible since you're not connected directly to the grid/transporting batteries is not feasible because they are too heavy.

Yeah but transporting batteries from offshore facilities to the grid is not feasible, right? Storage AFAIK is mostly solved at this point. Also my understanding is that charging takes way too long and trucks/ heavy vehicles just can't be out of service that long.

What about off-shore Wind, PVs in deserts?

I agree! I do wonder though, if the focus is on STEM education right now, how is the public so scientifically illiterate?

Yeah that makes sense. They could even make content around the findings of the research and use their platform for communication of research they deem legitimate. Sad that people with those abilities don't do things like it.

Mmm, yeah I guess you're right, one would need more money.

Could probably hire researchers to do it for less than 40k no?

Holy shit that is so genius it would be so funny.

Thanks, yeah that makes sense.

Honestly it's a big blocker. I did my bachelor's back home in Colombia. Most Profs wouldn't really consider you for any research internship if you didn't speak/read English. But I fear it's just impossible to fix.

Arguable. If they are, it's pretty ineffective.

He's saying it's antisemitic to refer to groups like the Houthis as "based" or "freedom fighters", like Hasan does.

Ah I see. Seems interesting. Tbh, I just use my Uni's Sharelatex server for most of my work and call it a day. When writing, I spend more time thinking about what to write than typing it out anyway.

I don't see it though, what is the upside compared to using LaTeX in overleaf or shared university LaTeX servers?

A single country couldn't really oppose the US. Maybe the collective opposition of all South American countries could do it but even then I doubt it. It's super sad to be in this situation.

I haven't watched any of his interviews, but I do remember high profile science/math people going on his show like 3blue1brown and Gilbert Strang going to his podcast.

Besides the obvious (treat woman colleagues with respect), what else can be done?

I love mine, and have since I bought it 3 years ago. Use it every day. I guess every body is different.

Yeah agreed. Probably in the end the best we can do right is just build relationships with neighbors and join activities that build some sort of communal sentiment like gardening or something. It's really hard to do real activism.

I'm not suggesting we lose our own. I am suggesting we try to understand each other when it makes sense and it is helpful.

It's also because the left is very fragmented and contains way too much infighting. Right wingers accept anyone that shares at least a single belief they do, while on the left we need to pass too many purity tests to be accepted.

Why do you assume that? I do think being vegan is probably the morally correct choice, if that's what you mean.

I don't think calling you a jerk is very useful. The same way, I don't think attacking people's medical decisions is very helpful towards your cause.
comment in response to

We don't really know if OP had this talk or not with their physician, so attacking them for it is assuming a lot of stuff.

Do you think if their doctor recommends eating animals (for whatever medical reason), they should not follow their physician's advice?
