Not for backups on Android. Signal for Android supports encrypted backups secured by a 30-digit passphrase. Iโ€™m basically hoping for something equivalent on iOS. support.signal.org/hc/en-us/art...

Iโ€™m not asking (and i donโ€™t want) that backup to be on Signal servers.

Ok, then does it mean there will never be an (encrypted) backup off-device?

Meant backup and restore for situations where I lose my device.

Signal is amazing and very much needed considering the circumstances, but it would be really having E2E encrypted backup and restore.

That's the USA we love! Glad that some Americans are starting pushing back.

I like your proposal. Has it been tried before, and if yes, how did it go? Actually, the US income tax is already extraterritorial, if I remember correctly, and one of the only countries doing that by the way, as US living abroad still have to fill their horribly complex yearly tax return?
