My recommendation for #WorldBookDay is the same as the recommendation I made in 2022 for Unit Editions: How To Be An Artist by Bill Drummond uniteditions.com/blogs/news/r...

There should never have been a first. There absolutely shouldn’t be a second! you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/no...

I may post here semi-regularly about supporting the creative industries and the Arts as a sector, but it is by no means perfect. One of the sector’s big failings is where some employers still continue to not pay interns. Come on, get your house in order! www.theguardian.com/culture/2025...

We’re really pleased to announce that in July, @robramsden.bsky.social and I are giving a talk about the Ipswich printer W. S. Cowell, the development of children’s picture book printing in the UK, and Puffin Picture Books at Ipswich Arts Association. ipswich-arts.org.uk/lecture-conc...

We have a local election coming up in my area, and canvassers just knocked on my door. Before they could tell me what party they were from, I was clocking the leaflet in their hands and trying to work out whether they were Tories, Reform, or Labour, based on the colour.

🚨Attention UCU members in HE: we have started an open letter for you to sign in support of a motion we're bringing to the meeting on Weds 19th which calls for a focus on defending jobs, reforming HE, & calling off a national ballot. docs.google.com/forms/u/1/d/...

Mick Jones’ Rock & Roll Public Library opens its doors again in London next month, and launches a magazine. I was lucky enough to see the RRPL when it was in Norwich in 2010 and can highly recommend a visit. louderthanwar.com/the-rock-rol...

For 45 years I’ve wondered about that little missing bit of the C in Specials on their first and second albums.

When I saw Wild At Heart on its release at a late night screening, it got a standing ovation. That doesn’t happen often in my experience, but rightly deserved. RIP David Lynch. www.theguardian.com/film/2025/ja...

Over 60 German universities quit social media platform X. Platform accused of failing to uphold values of diversity, freedom, and scholarship.

RIP Oliviero Toscani. I show his David Kirby Benetton ad in an Agit Prop lecture to students every year, and it gets a heated debate going more than anything else I show. Truly groundbreaking.

🧵1/4 It was a breath of fresh air to hear UK Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy talking positively about the creative industries on the BBC4 Today programme earlier. Especially when centring education within the narrative.
