Taken seriously by whom? Does watching a starving child stalked by a vulture and doing nothing make the photo more ethically sound or acceptable professionally? Are the professional standards acceptable to you personally? Can we strive for a better world reporting truth? These are earnest questions.

While I do, the language around centering these marginalized people and their militancy explicitly is really necessary. Now more than ever. That isn't a gotcha or a call out, that's a reframing and focus on militancy and radicalism explicitly.

Why do you think voter suppression laws are so much more aggressive in "red states"? Do you think the first massive cop city was built in Atlanta on a fucking lark? The Black Belt is significantly more militant and radical than any of the most "progressive blue states".

Instead of doomering about this you can choose to do something right now! If you have stopped masking I will not judge you if you want recommendations about what masks are available and what might work best for your face shape and size! The next best time to have started masking is today!

Even the question of "who is mobilizing" us feels like we are pawns instead of actual human beings capable of mobilizing ourselves given the resources to do so.
We see this clearly in the militancy of pro-Palestinian student efforts in poorer colleges that got overshadowed by Columbia et al.

And so now we're left in a position where poor folks feel extremely disengaged and it will be an extremely uphill battle of getting material support to folks like me as things get worse. There has to be a significant effort to actually centering poor people and autonomous action by them.

I think it really doesn't help that "the left", including left-wing organizations, has routinely only allowed poor people to the front when it benefits the optics. Most poor people like myself who have spent time in organizational spaces have had a lifetime of a lack of support or outright animus.

I know the material reasons for the rise of fascism. I also think another reason - which doesn’t get talked about as much because it’s embarrassing that humans can be that naive - is that when you are financially comfortable but bored, abstract cruelty can give you a sense of purpose.

I mean, it causes a lot of harm to pretty much everyone long term. And we are yet to have even a decade of longitudinal data.

Here's the executive order: www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...
Among other entities Trump says he's ending are the United States African Development Foundation, Credit Union Advisory Council, Community Bank Advisory Council, and the HHS Secretary's Advisory Committee on Long COVID.

Watching people I considered comrades and did good work with becoming more atomized and alienated and focused on politics as aesthetics or politics as individual practice has made me feel like I'm going crazy. Gaslighting on a social level for the sake of pretending it's still 2019.
