Things hang in the balance for sure, but these profs aren't civic refugees and it's fatuous to pretend. Snyder's fairly prosaic lateral move to an equivalenly prestigious job is not the same as Einstein fleeing mass arrests, or Raphael Lemkin and hundreds of others fleeing Einsatzgruppen.

Yes, this is true of basically every segment of US political culture, from the DSA and Chapo-fan left to the MAGA-curious low propensity voter. The sole exceptions were Resistance liberals and never-Trumpers, which is actually quite a lot of people who did recognize the danger but it wasn't enough!
