Politically I am either liberal or moderate, depending on how much people on the far left are pissing me off on any particular day. As a member of Generation X, I try to live by the words of E.T. and Bill & Ted: "Be good" and "Be excellent to each other".

One think that I am absolutely certain about is: There is a smart and strategic way to do tariffs, and this administration is too careless and stupid to do it that way.

Wikipedia defines air superiority as "the degree to which a side in a conflict holds control of air power over opposing forces". The addition of 300 aircraft defending its borders – picking off nearby Russian hardware – would seriously help Ukraine, which is why Russia really doesn't want that.

For example, when is the last time that you heard of a squadron of Russian aircraft bombing Kyiv? You haven't, because they would all be shot down. And if Ukraine had 300 aircraft as proposed, they would be using them to pick off Russian hardware on the front line, using standoff weapons from afar.

Your insistence that air superiority is "impossible", even if – as Prolific Orc Hater proposed – European countries were to lend/lease 300 fighter jets with pilots and support staff to Ukraine – is delusional. Ukraine mostly maintains control of its airspace *already*.

"Even with 300 fighter jets you will not have air superiority..." How in the fuck would you know that? It kind of sounds like you are pulling this shit directly out of your ass.

For those who don’t speak money: it’s bad when the yields rise. That means investors are losing confidence in the security of American debt and requiring more enticement to invest.

I stand by my long-standing self-assessment.

Thank you for further demonstrating – in great detail – that you are a brittle and toxic individual, Chris Kluwe. You know, your unhinged ranting kind of reminds me of Donald Trump.

In recent months, Chuck Schumer has not had a lot of options, and has been forced to try and choose the least worst option. His argument that shutting down the government would allow Donald Trump to do more damage faster was a reasoned argument. And so I resent it greatly, when people trash Chuck.

No, I had never even heard of Murderbot before yesterday.

To those commenting that it was a premeditated insider trading setup and not a climbdown - I suspect it was both. Economically illiterate Trump intended to unleash high global tariffs and was forced by the market to U-turn - but also fully intended to enrich his cronies whichever way the ride went.

Thank you. I am interested in reading Chris Hayes' new book, "The Sirens' Call: How Attention Became the World's Most Endangered Resource", but *that* would require having the free time to devote attention to it! Sigh. I feel like there's a flood of transient information that I absorb daily.

I am certainly not opposed to learning more about other countries, especially Japan. If the Trump administration would simply take a fucking day off – every now and then – from acting profoundly destructive and insane and malicious, I would be happy to be reading about more worthwhile topics.

I have never been known for saying anything nice about China, or the Chinese people. However, in this particular situation, I can't help but think that these Chinese soldiers are probably there against their will. Because they would have to be really brainwashed or desperate, to engage in this war.

I would be happy if we could also get South Korea, Canada and Australia on board. Democracies need to stick together.

How many fucking people who aren't Japanese have ever lived in Japan? Your seeming insinuation that everybody should already know how the Japanese feel about this issue is grating.

Wouldn't murderbot only watch the rise and fall of sanctuary moon exactly once? I mean, after all, a robot would have a perfect memory. Although I suppose that it could blank that part of its memory, so that it could enjoy watching something over and over.

Wow, I've never seen peach blossoms before. I didn't expect them to be even more visually erotic than peaches!

Millions of peaches, peaches for free... Look out!

I feel like he's doing crazy shit like this on purpose, in order to help his cronies around the world profit from the financial chaos. Otherwise known as insider trading.

One silver lining that occurred to me recently is that unlike Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump seems oddly hesitant, in regard to actually disappearing and liquidating his enemies. Like for example, MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell, who mocks him fearlessly and mercilessly. He's my canary in this coal mine.

@jonlemire.bsky.social, I thought that you might appreciate this slang that the senator just mentioned: "The meaning of LICK-LOG is a felled tree in which troughs are cut and filled with salt for cattle."

"This is good news for us." Are you sure about that? Because this man is a dangerous lunatic. Unless he serendipitously keels over, I don't see any outcome that will be good for us. "The fiercest enemy is the man who has nothing left to lose." – The Cigarette Smoking Man, The X-Files (1996)

I'm starting to think that he has so much grievance and hatred towards his fellow man that he wants to destroy everything and everyone.
