5) When time's name was new, a tribe of nomadic storyteller Dragons called the Mythica traveled from realm to realm, sharing epic story-songs, until they were hunted to extinction by the Oni, who wanted to silence their stories. But some of their tales were handed down by word of mouth as myths.

These are god tier spoilers.

That’s a big issue of S3 Part 1 for me. I just feel like we didn’t get enough with a lot of the characters which made the story feel kind of hollow. But the times in which the story allows itself to focus solely on characters is when the season shined the brightest! Ras and Arin especially carried

There is still a lot of potentially exciting stories to be told in Dragons Rising, and I really, really hope that they are executed to their full potential!

Another example of this is the crab. Okay it’s cool the tooth was a prismatic blade but like…how does that explain the crown and how it controlled the Merlopian? I just hope the writers can recognize that some of these payoffs and explanations are sort of lackluster and improve on them going forward

The payoff for them is very disappointing and unfortunately something I feared with DR. I really hope this does not start a trend with how these multi-season stories and mysteries get resolved. Because with how the F5 were handled, it’s making me cautious regarding the payoffs to other stuff.

We could still have the spectral theming in part 2, and have the F5 take the place of Thunderfang. It would be a great way to show us WHY death wasn’t enough for them in the first place.

And while I think Thunderfang is cool so far (only watched part 1) I think the story would have worked better without him, especially since we spent season 2 building up the F5 only for the focus to IMMEDIATELY switch in the opening scene…

The only member to use their powers efficiently was Drix. Despite his lack of screen time Drix is my favorite member and the BARE MINIMUM for what the F5 should have been.

I would’ve loved to explore misfortune more, like what would happen if it hit a person? How long would it last? And what else can decay do? Can it work on non-living things? Though undoubtedly the biggest missed opportunity is fear, we don’t even have the slightest clue on how it works…

Any kid who only gets information from the show likely won’t know Nokt and Zarkt’s powers, and DEFINITELY won’t know Rox’s since she didn’t even use hers. Which really sucks because outside of Nokt’s, I think all of their powers sounded extremely interesting.

There is little to no chemistry or dynamic between the five outside of like 2-3 brief lines which is quite a shame. They barely feel like a team, let alone a team of conquerors. Not to mention their elemental powers, or rather lack there of.

They don’t even question if Thunderfang will keep his word and by the end of ep 3 they are reduced to nothing more than his foot soldiers. You can replace them with any semi-competent villain and the only major thing that changes is Roby doesn’t get decayed. Which mind you is the only thing Kur DOES

To put it simply the Forbidden Five were very underwhelming and I found myself more disappointed with them than anything. These guys are finally freed and the first thing they do is go to Thunderfang for more power… why? It’s never explained.

I was so excited when Nokt freed the remaining Forbidden Five at the end of S2, knowing they would be the main threat of S3. 20 episodes where the villains are a team of corrupted elemental masters that were so dangerous, not even death was good enough for them. Unfortunately we did not get that.
